Nerlens Noel: Cut loose by Sacramento
The Kings waived Noel on Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports.
Sacramento waived both Noel and Neemias Queta (foot) on Tuesday, meaning that Alex Len and JaVale McGee will compete for the team's backup center role behind Domantas Sabonis (thumb). Noel is a capable shot-blocker who can find himself on another roster competing for a depth role in the frontcourt for the 2023-24 season.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Nerlens Noel: Agrees to deal with Sacramento
Noel and the Kings agreed to a one-year, $3.1 million deal Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Noel made 17 appearances (four starts) split between the Nets and Pistons last year, averaging 2.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals-plus-blocks in 11.5 minutes per game. The 2013 first-round pick has struggled to stay healthy during his career, but when available, he can be a solid defender. In Sacramento, he'll presumably compete with Alex Len and Trey Lyles for backup center minutes behind Domantas Sabonis (thumb).... See More ... See Less
Nerlens Noel: Sees 10-day contract expire
Noel isn't expected to sign another contract with the Nets after his first 10-day contract expired Wednesday, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
Noel appeared in three games with Brooklyn after being bought out by Detroit in late February and struggled to impress the team enough to earn another contract. In his three appearances with the Nets, Noel averaged 1.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 14.3 minutes. It's unclear if the veteran big man will garner much interest on the open market.... Nets' Nerlens Noel: Starting for injured Claxton
Noel will start Thursday's tilt against the Bucks, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
With usual starting center Nic Claxton out (thumb, Achilles), Noel will draw the start in just his second appearance with Brooklyn. In three prior starts with the Pistons this season, the veteran averaged 3.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists in 20.3 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Nerlens Noel: Makes Brooklyn debut
Noel played 18 minutes and produced two points (1-1 FG), three rebounds and one steal in Tuesday's 118-96 win over the Rockets.
With Ben Simmons (knee/back) missing his seventh straight game Tuesday and second-year big man Day'Ron Sharpe having struggled in his recent appearances before falling out of the rotation, head coach Jacque Vaughn turned to the newly signed Noel to handle backup center duties behind Nic Claxton. Noel wasn't particularly impressive during his time on the court, as he committed more fouls (five) and turnovers (three) than any other statistic. That said, Noel has shown the ability in the past to put up interesting defensive counting stats when given meaningful run, so he could have some appeal as a deep-league streamer for steals and blocks if he stabilizes in a 15-to-20-minute role behind Claxton.... Nets' Nerlens Noel: Will see minutes Tuesday
Noel is expected to see minutes Tuesday against the Rockets, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
Noel inked a 10-day deal with the Nets on Monday and will get action right away, potentially taking some minutes from Day'Ron Sharpe. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from Noel, but he's been known to rack up blocks and steals in a hurry.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Nerlens Noel: Inks 10-day deal
The Nets signed Noel to a 10-day deal Monday, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
Noel was recently bought out by the Pistons after appearing in just 14 games and will join Brooklyn on a short-term deal. With Ben Simmons (back/knee) out indefinitely, Noel will compete with Day'Ron Sharpe for the top backup center spot behind Nic Claxton and could stick around for the rest of the season if he's able to impress. However, even if Noel does carve out a rotational role, he's unlikely to produce well enough to crack fantasy relevancy in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Nerlens Noel: Inks deal with Nets
Noel has agreed to a deal to join the Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Noel was recently bought out by the Pistons after appearing in 14 games with them. He recorded just 2.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks across 10.9 minutes per game. The veteran big man is expected to provide depth in the Nets' frontcourt.... See More ... See Less
Nerlens Noel: Reaches buyout with Detroit
The Pistons and Noel reached a contract buyout Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Noel had missed six straight games due to personal reasons, but it appears like he was just away from the team while negotiating a buyout. The veteran center is now free to join a new team and will presumably be seeking a roster spot on a playoff contender, though it remains to be seen what type of attention he'll draw as a free agent....
