Temple signed a one-year, $3.2 million contract with the Raptors on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Temple spent the last two seasons in New Orleans and was on the fringes of the Pelicans' rotation for most of the year during the 2022-23 campaign. He averaged just 2.0 points in 6.5 minutes per game over 25 appearances last season and will attempt to bounce back with the Raptors.... See More ... See Less

Garrett Temple: Waived by New Orleans
Temple was waived by the Pelicans on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Temple's role significantly decreased during the 2022-23 campaign, as he averaged 2.0 points in 6.5 minutes per game over 25 appearances during his second year with the Pelicans. He had solid playing time earlier in his career but will have to seek out other opportunities ahead of his age-37 season.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Takes step back in 13th season
Temple finished his 13th season with averages of 2.0 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.4 steals in 6.5 minutes per game over 25 contests. Temple faded from the rotation in his second year in New Orleans, typically only seeing the floor in garbage time or when multiple rotation players were battling injuries. The 36-year-old holds more value as a locker-room leader than an on-court contributor at this point in his career. Temple's non-guaranteed $5.4 million salary could make him a candidate to be waived this offseason as the Pelicans look to piece together their roster for next season.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Dusts off cobwebs Tuesday
Temple recorded one assist in five minutes during Tuesday's 119-84 win over the Spurs. Temple played five minutes in the victory, just the fifth time he has seen any action in the past two months. At this point in his career, Temple is nothing more than a depth piece for the Pelicans, providing far more value as a locker-room leader than an actual contributor. To put things in perspective, he has a total of 42 points in 21 games played this season. As you were.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Off injury report
Temple (personal) is off the injury report for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers. Temple is unlikely to be a significant part of the rotation when available. He's played just 21 minutes this season.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Out again Wednesday
Temple (personal) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Chicago. Temple will remain sidelined due to personal matters. He hasn't seen the floor since Oct. 30, but he's totaled just 21 minutes across two appearances this season, so his prolonged absence hasn't impacted the Pelicans' rotation.... See More ... Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Won't play Monday
Temple has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Pacers due to personal reasons. Temple hasn't seen much playing time early in the regular season, but he'll be unable to suit up for Monday's matchup. It's unclear when he's expected to return, but his absence shouldn't impact the Pelicans' rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Makes 2022-23 debut
Temple finished with six points (2-3 FG, 2-3 3Pt), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 17 minutes during Friday's 124-111 loss to Phoenix. The 36-year-old was forced to step into a large role Friday with Brandon Ingram (concussion), Herbert Jones (knee), Zion Williamson (hip) and Dyson Daniels (ankle) out, and Temple put together a solid outing. When the Pelicans are healthy, Temple is nothing more than a reserve wing, but for as long as they are battling the injury bug, he may be asked to play filler minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Light run in return from COVID-19
Temple (COVID-19 protocols) played nine minutes off the bench and finished with zero points, one assist and one block in Tuesday's 110-97 win over the Rockets. Temple missed only two games while he was in the NBA's health and safety protocols, and though New Orleans was shorthanded after executing a blockbuster trade with Portland earlier in the day, head coach Willie Green didn't turn to the veteran wing for big minutes in his return to action. Temple may still be able to stick in the rotation ahead of the newly acquired Tony Snell, but the addition of CJ McCollum will likely prevent Temple from seeing a major jump in playing time from what he received Tuesday.... Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Cleared to play
Temple (COVID-19 protocols) has been cleared to play Tuesday against the Rockets. Temple had been listed as questionable heading into the day, but the Pelicans must have been encouraged enough by how he looked from a conditioning standpoint at morning shootaround to clear him to return from a two-game absence. Prior to entering the health and safety protocols, Temple had been held under 20 minutes in both of his last two appearances, but he could be called upon to see more playing time Tuesday with the Pelicans unlikely to have any of Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Tomas Satoransky available as the team works to finalize a trade with Portland to acquire CJ McCollum.... Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Questionable Tuesday
Temple (COVID-19 protocols) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Rockets. Temple was out the last two games after entering the NBA's health and safety protocols Thursday, but he may be able to return to action Tuesday versus Houston. He'll likely come off the bench if available since the Pelicans' usual starting five is fully healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Enters health and safety protocols
Temple was placed in the league's health and safety protocols Thursday, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports. Temple has officially been ruled out for Friday's game against the Nuggets and will need to isolate from the Pelicans. Tomas Satoransky and Herbert Jones could see additional run in his absence.... Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Shifts back to bench
Temple will come off the bench Monday against the Cavaliers, Daniel Sallerson of the Pelicans Radio Network reports. Temple started the past four games but will move to the bench Monday in favor of Jaxson Hayes. Temple should still be plenty involved as a reserve since Brandon Ingram (ankle) remains out.... Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Running with first unit
Temple is starting Monday's game against the Pacers. Temple will move into the starting lineup with Brandon Ingram (ankle) ruled out Monday evening. His last start dates back to Jan. 9 against Toronto, when he finished with eight points, six assists, three rebounds and a steal in 33 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Struggles in loss
Temple notched eight points (3-10 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, six assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Sunday's 105-101 loss to the Raptors. Starting for Josh Hart (health and safety related), Temple couldn't find his stroke from beyond the arc. His six assists led the Pelicans and easily marked a season high for the veteran. Despite the cold performance, Temple is connecting on 37.9 percent of his threes on 3.4 attempts per game.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Starting Sunday
Temple is starting Sunday's game against the Raptors, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Temple came off the bench in each of the last three games and averaged 4.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per contest during that time. However, he'll rejoin the starting five with Josh Hart (not injury related) and Tomas Satoransky (COVID-19 protocols) sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Shifts to bench
Temple will come off the bench Monday against the Jazz. Temple averaged 17.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.7 3PM over the past three games with Brandon Ingram (Achilles) sidelined, but Ingram is back in the lineup Monday. Temple should still be involved as a bench piece but figures to have a much lesser role in the rotation.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Continues to pour in threes
Temple finished with 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt), four assists, three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes Saturday in the Pelicans' 136-113 loss to the Bucks. With Brandon Ingram (Achilles) missing the last two games and Jonas Valanciunas (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) sitting out three of the past four, Temple has been one of several members of the Pelicans' supporting cast who has been thrust into a larger role. Temple has been able to capitalize on the opportunity by averaging 17.7 points and 3.7 three-pointers over the past three contests, but his strong run of production in both areas will soon come to an end. Not only has he shot an unsustainable 55.6 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from downtown over that stretch, but both Ingram and Valanciunas are listed as questionable ahead of Monday's game against the Jazz. Even if regression doesn't rear its head immediately, Temple will see his playing time and usage dip once one or both of Ingram and Valanciunas are cleared to play.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Drops in five triples Tuesday
Temple provided 17 points (6-7 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 108-104 victory over the Cavaliers. Temple had himself another productive night Tuesday, taking advantage of the fact the team was without a lot of their primary offensive weapons. Temple shot 86 percent from the field, something that I think we can all agree will not happen again anytime soon. In a role such as this, while lacking certainty, he is at least worth considering in standard leagues as a 3-point streamer.... See More ... See Less -
Pelicans' Garrett Temple: Starting Tuesday
Temple will start Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. With Josh Hart (ankle) and Brandon Ingram (Achilles) sidelined, Temple will join the starting five. In his nine starts this season, he's averaged 8.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 steals in 28.0 minutes.... See More ... See Less
