Weiss cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday. Weiss was claimed off waivers by the Royals at the beginning of July, and he posted a 7.57 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 35.2 innings over 30 relief appearances at Omaha. He'll remain with the Triple-A club after losing his spot on the Royals' 40-man roster.... See More ... See Less

Royals' Ryan Weiss: Claimed by Kansas City
Weiss was claimed off waivers by the Royals on Friday and optioned to Triple-A Omaha. The Diamondbacks designated Weiss for assignment last weekend, but the Royals deemed him worthy of a 40-man spot. Matt Peacock was DFA'd to make room for Weiss, who has mostly struggled at Triple-A the past two seasons. He will likely need to improve upon his 7.45 ERA at that level this year in order to get a look in Kansas City.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ryan Weiss: Loses spot on 40-man roster
Weiss was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Weiss was added to the 40-man roster in November but failed to make the Opening Day roster, and he's been removed from the 40-man roster without seeing the majors. The 25-year-old has a 7.45 ERA, 2.28 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB in seven appearances for Triple-A Reno this year.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Ryan Weiss: Gets optioned Thursday
The Diamondbacks optioned Weiss to Triple-A Reno on Thursday. Along with Weiss, the Diamondbacks optioned pitcher Humberto Mejia and outfielder Stuart Fairchild to Reno in their latest round of roster cuts. Weiss was added to Arizona's 40-man roster over the winter after compiling a 4.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 88:31 K:BB in 78.1 innings between stops at Reno and Double-A Amarillo in 2021.... See More ... Jeffrey Flanagan@FlannyMLB20D agoGreat reporting here. But until MLB fixes the economic disparity (salary cap/floor) taxpayers shouldn’t pay for renovation of the K or a new stadium. Waste of money. A new Royals stadium will be expensive. Fixing a crumbling Kauffman Stadium will be too https://t.co/kPA23UcwEc

Rustin Dodd@rustindodd29D agoEight years ago tonight, the Royals won the World Series in New York. If you would have asked: What happens first? The Royals return to the playoffs or one of the players on the team becomes a GM and builds a World Series winner? I think everyone would have gotten it wrong.

Jeffrey Flanagan@FlannyMLB12/31/1969By the way, another hat tip to Royals 3B coach Vance Wilson for sending Pratto on Garcia’s double today. Vance knew the situation, the conditions, and Pratto’s average speed vs. arm strength of White Sox defenders and within a millisecond made the right call to push across a run.
