Johnson, 28, spent split the 2023 season between Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A El Paso in the Padres organization, collecting an .817 OPS with 19 home runs and 30 stolen bases. He's capable of handling all three outfield spots and last saw action in the majors in 2021.

Johnson was traded from the Guardians to the Mets in late May, and he spent nearly a month on the injured list between June and July. He was let go by the Mets a few days after being reinstated from the IL, but he'll find a new landing spot with the Nationals, the organization that drafted him in 2016.
