  • Diamondbacks' Yu-Min Lin: Gearing up for return

Lin (jaw) threw a 45-pitch live bullpen session Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Lin is scheduled to throw two more side sessions, with Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin noting that the southpaw will be six weeks removed from undergoing jaw surgery at that point. The 20-year-old required surgery after he suffered multiple facial fractures when he was struck in the face by a foul ball while sitting in the dugout during a Double-A Amarillo game in late April. Larkin noted that the Diamondbacks are optimistic Lin will be ready to cover five innings and 75 pitches around June 14, so that's presumably his target date for a retrun from Amarillo's 7-day injured list.

  • Diamondbacks' Yu-Min Lin: Recovering from freak accident

Lin will be sidelined until around mid-June while he recovers from multiple facial fractures suffered when he was hit in the face by a foul ball in late-April, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. The injury occurred when Lin was sitting in the dugout during a game for Double-A Amarillo. The 20-year-old southpaw had been unlucky (.463 BABIP, 57.7 LOB%) while recording 21 strikeouts in 18 innings prior to landing on the injured list.

  • Diamondbacks' Yu-Min Lin: Lands on IL at Double-A

Double-A Amarillo placed Lin on its 7-day injured list April 27 with an unspecified injury. The 20-year-old lefty had gotten off to a rough start to the season for Amarillo before landing on the IL, accruing a 7.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB in 18 innings over four starts.

  • Diamondbacks' Yu-Min Lin: Success as 19-year-old at High-A

Lin has a 3.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 17 strikeouts in 11 innings over his last three starts for High-A Hillsboro. The 19-year-old undersized southpaw boasts a phenomenal changeup that has proved too much for most of the hitters he has faced lately. His first start of the season on April 15, in which he gave up three earned runs while walking two and only getting four outs, is dragging down his season numbers. Lin's 54.2 percent groundball rate is also a stellar mark, and it's worth noting the Taiwanese hurler is the second-youngest pitcher at High-A behind San Diego's Victor Lizarraga.
