The Cardinals acquired Prieto, left-hander Drew Rom and right-hander Zack Showalter from the Orioles on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Jack Flaherty. Prieto looks like he has a big-league future, but he was sufficiently blocked in the Orioles organization. A 24-year-old Cuban infielder, Prieto is hitting .317/.365/.471 with two home runs, two steals and an 8.7 percent strikeout rate in 27 games at Triple-A Norfolk. Orioles' Cesar Prieto: Back from 7-day IL
High-A Aberdeen activated Prieto (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's game against Hudson Valley. He'll start at second base and bat sixth as he makes his return to the Aberdeen lineup following a two-week absence due to a strained right hamstring. Orioles' Cesar Prieto: Lands on injured list
Prieto (hamstring) was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Prieto sustained a Grade 1 right hamstring strain Friday and will miss at least a week due to the injury.
