Herrin (1-0) walked one and struck out three over two hitless and scoreless innings to earn the win Monday over the Red Sox. Xzavion Curry tossed five scoreless innings in his season debut, but the Guardians' offense didn't wake up until the seventh inning. Herrin ended up as the pitcher of record while accounting for half of the Cleveland bullpen's four scoreless frames. The southpaw has a 1.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings this season, while also earning one hold in eight appearances. Herrin gives the Guardians a multi-inning option, and while he's had a strong start to the year, the team's bullpen as a whole has been a strength, giving him little chance of moving into a high-leverage role.... Guardians' Tim Herrin: Doing OK in spring
Herrin has allowed three runs on five hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out seven over seven innings in Cactus League play. Two of the hits Herrin allowed were home runs. The 27-year-old southpaw remains in contention for a bullpen role, but he's likely to see low-leverage spots if he breaks camp with the Guardians. Herrin's heavy usage in spring training suggests he's getting a long look for the major-league roster.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Sent back to Triple-A
Cleveland optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Friday. Herrin has struggled to a 5.53 ERA and 1.48 WHIP across his first 27.2 major-league innings this season. Cody Morris is up from Columbus to fill the vacant spot in the Guardians' bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Recalled from Triple-A
Herrin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Thursday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Herrin has been in Triple-A since he gave up three runs in his last major-league appearance July 23. He has a 5.55 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in 24.1 innings this year for the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Sent to Columbus
The Guardians optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Cleveland selected the contract of lefty Daniel Norris from Triple-A to replace Herrin on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen. Herrin was the pitcher of record in Sunday's loss to the Phillies after giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk. He needed 22 pitches to record his three outs and also threw 22 pitches between appearances Thursday and Friday, so he was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for at least a couple of days.... Guardians' Tim Herrin: Takes loss Sunday
Herrin (1-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on a hit and a walk while striking out two over one-plus innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Phillies. Herrin kept the game close in the ninth inning, but after the Guardians tied it, he struggled when he came out for the 10th. Trevor Stephan couldn't contain the Phillies' rally either, and Herrin ended up with his first loss of the campaign. Herrin is now at a 5.55 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB with a hold and a blown save through 24.1 innings this season. The Guardians used a bullpen game Sunday, which likely explains why the southpaw was pitching in the late innings when he typically works much earlier in games.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Recalled from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Herrin from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. The 26-year-old lefty will return to Cleveland's bullpen with the placement of Triston McKenzie (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Herrin has made 10 major-league appearances this season, allowing nine runs over 12.2 innings while racking up 14 strikeouts.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Sent to Columbus
Cleveland optioned Herrin to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Herrin was removed from the 26-man active roster to make room for Cody Morris after Morris was activated off the 60-day injured list by the Guardians on Sunday. Herrin was with the club for only a day as he was recalled by Cleveland prior to Saturday's affair, and he'll likely be up and down for the Guardians throughout the 2023 campaign.... See More ... Guardians' Tim Herrin: Called up by Cleveland
Herrin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Herrin has made nine appearances at the big-league level this season, striking out 13 battings in 9.2 innings but struggling to a 7.45 ERA. He owns a 3.63 ERA in 17.1 innings at the Triple-A level. James Karinchak was optioned in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Back to Triple-A
Herrin was optioned back to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports. Herrin will return to Triple-A after he was called up Friday, failing to appear in a game while with the Guardians. The left-hander has produced a 4.70 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 10 strikeouts over 7.2 innings in seven appearances with Columbus this season.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tim Herrin: Makes Opening Day roster
Herrin has been informed he's made the Opening Day roster for the Guardians, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. Herrin was added to the 40-man roster ahead of the Rule 5 draft in November, and the southpaw registered an 11:2 K:BB with a 4.66 ERA over nine appearances in the Cactus League before receiving the good news. Herrin will likely will pitch in the middle innings while with the Guardians.... See More ... See Less
