Tigers' Trei Cruz: Off to hot start at Double-A
Cruz (elbow) has slashed .321/.426/.541 with five home runs and two stolen bases across 129 plate appearances with Double-A Erie.
Cruz was shut down in mid-August last season after suffering an elbow injury that required an internal brace surgery, but the 26-year-old has made a speedy recovery. He didn't require a stint on Erie's IL to begin the season and doesn't seem to be operating with any restrictions defensively, as he's made 12 starts at shortstop, 11 at third base and five in center field. Given how well he's performed at the plate thus far, a promotion to Triple-A Toledo could soon be in the cards.

Tigers' Trei Cruz: Requires elbow surgery
Cruz was transferred from Double-A Erie's 7-day injured list to the full-season injured list after undergoing Tommy John internal brace surgery on his right elbow Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
The 26-year-old suffered the injury while going through pre-game work in mid-August. As a position player, Cruz's recovery timeline from the procedure will be much shorter than that of a pitcher, but he may still be sidelined for the start of the 2025 campaign.

Tigers' Trei Cruz: Dropped down to Low-A
The Tigers demoted Cruz from High-A West Michigan to Low-A Lakeland on Tuesday, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.
Cruz will cede his spot on the West Michigan roster to 2020 fourth-round pick Gage Workman, who is regarded as one of the top middle-infield prospects in the organization. The 23-year-old Cruz was selected 31 picks ahead of Workman in 2020, but his stock has fallen thanks to him hitting .159 with a 32.7 percent strikeout rate in his first taste of professional ball. Cruz also spent about a month on the injured list earlier this season before returning to action June 8.

Tigers' Trei Cruz: Lands on injured list
Cruz was placed on the 7-day injured list Monday with an undisclosed injury, Emily Waldon of The Athletic reports.
The specifics of Cruz's injury remain unclear, but he'll be forced to sit at least the next seven days after being placed on the injured list.
