After getting the day off Sunday, Perdomo returned to the lineup and crushed his fifth homer of the season, a 411-foot shot to right to tie the game at 1-1 before the Astros later broke the game open. The 22-year-old now has a five-game hitting streak during which he is 6-for-16 with three RBI and three runs scored. He is slashing .194/.284/.265 in 141 games this season.

Perdomo fought off a 3-2 cutter from Alex Colome and dumped it into right field, plating the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the bottom of the eighth. An inning later, he made a lunging play in the field to secure the win for Arizona. It was a hopeful sequence for the young shortstop whose batting average hovers is at .201 through 96 games. He also has a DRS of minus-6, ranking him as one of the Diamondbacks' worst defenders this year.

Perdomo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to Cleveland.
Perdomo's ninth-inning blast was too little too late but made the final score more respectable. It was his fourth homer of the season and second in the last six games. All in all, it was a good day for the organization's youth movement: in addition to Perdomo's long ball, Alek Thomas homered and Daulton Varsho collected a pair of hits and stole a base. Those three will be center pieces of next year's roster and could be joined by Corbin Carroll at some point in 2023.
