  • Royals' Yefri Del Rosario: Reassigned to minors camp

Del Rosario was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Royals on Friday.

Del Rosario was given a chance to pitch with the big club, but the 23-year-old will open the season in the minors. The right-hander posted a 4.85 ERA in 47 appearances with a 53:29 K:BB over 72.1 innings for Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha last year.

  • Royals' Yefri Del Rosario: Ready for game action

Del Rosario (biceps) is listed among the available relievers for the Royals in Wednesday's minor-league spring training game against the Mariners.

Del Rosario's inclusion on the lineup card suggests he's made a full recovery from the right biceps injury that has prevented him from pitching since the 2018 minor-league season. He's expected to open the 2021 campaign at High-A Quad Cities.

  • Royals' Yefri Del Rosario: Dealing with bicep flare-up

Del Rosario is being held back in extended spring training while he rehabs a bicep flare-up, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

A couple of the Royals' high-upside pitching prospects are being held back in extended spring training, but Mayo thinks Del Rosario will be ready to pitch for an affiliate before org. mate Carlos Hernandez (rib) is ready, so perhaps we see Del Rosario in April or May. He has a very high ceiling, but as with most young hurlers, improving his command will be crucial if he is to remain a starter.
