Brewers' Sal Frelick: Cleared for baseball activities
Frelick (thumb) was recently cleared to resume light baseball activities, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Frelick was expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks after undergoing surgery April 25 to repair the UCL in his left thumb, and that recovery timeline remains roughly intact. According to Brewers farm director Tom Flanagan, Frelick will likely take part in rehab games with Milwaukee's Arizona Complex League affiliate in early-to-mid June once he's deemed ready for action, but the outfielder should eventually settle back into an everyday role at Triple-A Nashville. Frelick will still have a chance at making his MLB debut later in the summer if he can hit the ground running once he returns to action for Nashville.

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Undergoes surgery, out 6-to-8 weeks
Frelick underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the UCL in his left thumb and is expected to be out of action for 6-to-8 weeks, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports
After spraining his thumb last week, Frelick's injury was initially believed to be relatively minor, but he's now in line for an extended absence after surgery was deemed necessary. The 23-year-old outfield prospect was slashing .232/.317/.321 at Triple-A Nashville prior to the injury, and he likely would have been in line for a promotion had he not gotten hurt. Garrett Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury last week and is scheduled to undergo surgery in the coming days, leaving Milwaukee with a long-term void in center field. If Frelick is back to full health by the summer, he could still end up getting the call to the big leagues in 2023.

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Placed on minor-league IL
Frelick was placed on the 7-day injured list Friday at Triple-A Nashville with a left thumb sprain, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Frelick was examined by the Brewers' medical staff Thursday after jamming his left thumb in a game at Nashville on Tuesday. "We don't think he has to be out for a long time," manager Craig Counsell told reporters Friday evening. The 23-year-old top outfield prospect remains on track to make his MLB debut at some point this summer, with Garrett Mitchell's shoulder injury helping to clear Frelick's path.
