AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell1H agoFinal: Padres 6, Brewers 4 Homers from Jackson Merrill, Ha-Seong Kim and Kyle Higashioka accounted for the six runs. Solid outing from Randy Vásquez, with help from Higashioka, who nabbed two base-stealers. The Padres hit the halfway mark back above .500, at 41-40.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell3H agoJackson Merrill just swatted his 10th homer of the season, a 440-footer to the batter's eye. He's the second youngest Padre to reach double digits in a season, behind only Fernando Tatis Jr. The Padres lead 3-0.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell5H agoYu Darvish’s return has been formally slated for Tuesday, Mike Shildt says, meaning the Padres have Matt Waldron-Darvish-Dylan Cease lined up for their series against the Nationals.

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell7H agoGame 81: Brewers at Padres (Rodriguez vs. Vásquez), 4:15 p.m. PT at Petco Park No Tatis (left triceps contusion), no Profar (left knee tendinitis), no Campusano (bruised left thumb). Unclear who’s available off the bench, but Padres are thin tonight. Brett Sullivan has a locker. https://t.co/L06XZEbCKj

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell10H agoIt’s funny, this week I used up the last of my leave/vacation that I’d been taking intermittently to be a dad. I’m now back. And here the Padres are at the halfway mark: .500, in a big jumbled tie for the playoffs. I mean, what’d I even miss? Did the season really even start yet?

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell20H agoTwo of the Padres’ best players are clearly playing hurt. They could probably use some time to heal. But they’re both still very productive, and, frankly, the Padres need them playing. “A constant balancing act,” Mike Shildt said: https://t.co/GNr80taCjE

AJ Cassavell@AJCassavell22H agoFinal: Padres 9, Brewers 5 In a game that saw Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jurickson Profar exit, the rest of the offense picked up the slack. Jake Cronenworth had five hits. Manny Machado had four. Luis Arraez homered. Tomorrow, the Padres will hit the halfway mark. They're 40-40.
