Zeuch signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on Tuesday. Zeuch spent time with the Reds and Cardinals in 2022, but he was ultimately cut loose by Cincinnati in September. He'll have the chance to serve as organizational depth with the Rockies and could see some work in the majors in 2023.... See More ... See Less

T.J. Zeuch: Cut by Cincy
Zeuch (back) was released by the Reds on Wednesday. Zeuch had been sidelined with a back issue, but considering he gave up 18 earned runs in 10.2 innings across three MLB starts (six earned runs apiece), this roster move was performance-related. The 6-foot-7 righty also had more walks (seven) than strikeouts (five) with the Reds. He will likely catch on elsewhere on a minor-league deal in advance of 2023 spring training.... See More ... Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Out with back issue
Zeuch was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with back soreness. Zeuch has been tagged for exactly six runs in all three of his starts, including Wednesday's loss to the Phillies, and he's now headed to the IL with a back injury. The 27-year-old will be eligible to return to the active roster Sept. 9, though he's not guaranteed to have a place with the big-league club once healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Tagged for six runs Wednesday
Zeuch (0-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks over 2.2 innings against the Phillies. Zeuch began what would become a four-run third inning by allowing a solo homer to catcher J.T. Realmuto, and he then surrendered a series of walks and singles before being removed from the game. Cincinnati called the righty up from Triple-A Louisville due to the injury to Graham Ashcraft (biceps), and it's unclear if he'll receive another turn through the rotation. This was the 27-year-old's third major league start of 2022, and he has allowed six runs in four innings or fewer during all three outings.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Handed start Wednesday
Zeuch is scheduled to start Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. In his two starts with the Reds earlier this month, Zeuch did little to attract attention for fantasy purposes, as he struck out just five batters over eight innings while being pummeled for 12 earned runs on 17 hits and three walks between those outings. With Graham Ashcraft (biceps) landing on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, the Reds were forced to call up Zeuch from Triple-A Louisville out of necessity, given the lack of available replacement starting options on the 40-man roster. A road matchup with the Phillies wouldn't seem to be a good spot for Zeuch to show dramatic improvement from his first two starts.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Rejoins big club
The Reds recalled Zeuch from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday. Three days after being sent down, Zeuch is back with the Reds as a replacement on the 26-man active roster for Graham Ashcraft (biceps), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Ashcraft had been scheduled to start Wednesday against the Pirates, so Zeuch could end up filling that spot in the rotation if he isn't needed out of the bullpen for Tuesday's game. Zeuch struggled mightily over his two starts with Cincinnati earlier this month, going four innings both times while posting a 13.50 ERA and 2.50 WHIP.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Optioned to Triple-A
Zeuch was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. The decision to send Zeuch down to the minors comes after two starts in which he gave up six runs over four innings both times. This move now leaves the Reds with four starters in their rotation, meaning a replacement for Zeuch is likely to come in the near future.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Crushed in loss
Zeuch (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against Philadelphia, allowing six runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out one in four innings. Twelve of the 24 batters to face Zeuch reached safely, including homers by Darick Hall, Nick Castellanos and Rhys Hoskins. Zeuch came out to pitch the fifth but, after allowing two hits, he was removed without having recorded an out. The 26-year-old has allowed six runs in four innings in each of his two starts for the Reds. Should he make another start for Cincinnati, it will likely be early next week in Philadelphia.... Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Mauled by Mets
Zeuch (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering six runs on six hits and two walks over four innings as the Reds fell 10-2 to the Mets. He struck out four and hit two batters with pitches. The only clean inning Zeuch tossed in his Cincinnati debut was his final one, as New York racked up runs in each of the first three frames on the afternoon. The 27-year-old right-hander didn't make much of a case to stick around in the rotation, throwing only 54 of 91 pitches for strikes, but he could get another turn or two until the Reds' staff begins to get healthier.... Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Called up to start Wednesday
The Reds selected Zeuch's contract from Triple-A Louisville in advance of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Mets in New York. Reliever Ryan Hendrix was optioned to Louisville to clear room on the active roster for Zeuch, who will be making his Reds debut after drawing seven starts at the big-league level with the Blue Jays across the past three seasons. The 27-year-old began the season in the Cardinals organization before being released in May, but he's found success out of the Louisville rotation since catching on with the Reds on a minor-league deal. In five starts with Louisville, Zeuch has generated a 3.63 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB in 22.1 innings. With a strong showing Wednesday, Zeuch could have some longevity in the rotation while the Reds are down two starting options in Hunter Greene (shoulder) and Robert Dugger (shoulder).... See More ... Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Expected to start Wednesday
Zeuch is expected to be called up from Triple-A Louisville to start Wednesday's game against the Mets, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Zeuch signed a minor-league contract with the Reds in early June and has posted a 3.63 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 22.1 innings over five starts at Louisville. The right-hander had his best outing of the season his last time out Aug. 2, striking out 12 while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks over seven innings. He traveled with the Reds for their road trip to New York and will likely have his contract selected Wednesday for what will be his first big-league outing of the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' T.J. Zeuch: Signs minor-league contract
Zeuch signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Zeuch made five starts at Triple-A Memphis this year and posted an 11.64 ERA and 2.62 WHIP in 19.1 innings prior to being released by the Cardinals in late May. He'll likely report to Triple-A Louisville to begin his time with his new organization.... See More ... See Less -
T.J. Zeuch: Released by Cardinals
Zeuch was released by the Cardinals on Friday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Zeuch had been with Triple-A Memphis since the start of the season but struggled to an 11.64 ERA through five starts. He's thrown 49 career innings at the major-league level, posting a 4.59 ERA and 1.55 WHIP, numbers that will probably leave him searching for a minor-league deal.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' T.J. Zeuch: Designated for assignment
Zeuch was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Saturday. Zeuch was traded from the Blue Jays to the Cardinals in July of 2021, and he posted a 7.18 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 57.2 innings over 14 appearances (10 starts) at Triple-A Memphis. He'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster, but it's possible that he remains in Memphis if he goes unclaimed on waivers.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' T.J. Zeuch: Dealt to St. Louis
The Cardinals acquired Zeuch from the Blue Jays on Sunday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports. The Blue Jays' return for Zeuch hasn't yet been reported, but he's not expected to fetch much after Toronto cast him off its 40-man roster Tuesday. A 2016 first-round pick, Zeuch appeared in five games (three starts) for Toronto this season, logging a 6.60 ERA and 2.00 WHIP across 15 innings. Zeuch has two minor-league options remaining, so St. Louis will presumably stash him at Triple-A Memphis and have him get stretched out for starting duty in the event the big club needs to add an arm to the rotation at any point in the second half.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' T.J. Zeuch: DFA'd by Toronto
Zeuch was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Zeuch has been in the minors since mid-June and has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old should remain at Triple-A Buffalo if he goes unclaimed on waivers.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' T.J. Zeuch: Returns to minors
Zeuch was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports. The right-hander surrendered three runs (two earned) over three innings during Thursday's spot start and will make his way back to the minors. Zeuch should rejoin the rotation at Buffalo, where he has a 4.37 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB across 35 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' T.J. Zeuch: No-decision Thursday
Zeuch took a no-decision during Thursday's loss to the Yankees after surrendering three runs (two earned) on five hits and a pair of walks while striking out two across three innings. Zeuch, who was recalled ahead of Thursday's start, allowed a run to score in the first inning due to his own throwing error, then gave up a two-run shot to Gio Urshela in the third. The 25-year-old threw 65 pitches, including 44 for strikes. Zeuch had played with Triple-A Buffalo since the end of April, where he recorded a 4.37 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across seven appearances (six starts). He's expected to fill in for Steven Matz (illness) while he spends time on the COVID-19 injured list. Zeuch is projected to get another chance next week at Miami.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' T.J. Zeuch: Called up ahead of start
Zeuch was recalled by the Blue Jays ahead of Thursday's start against the Yankees. Zeuch had been with Triple-A Buffalo since the end of April, and he posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 35 innings across seven appearances (six starts). He'll now return to the major-league roster to fill in while Steven Matz (illness) is on the COVID-19 injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' T.J. Zeuch: Reinstated, sent down
Zeuch (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. Zeuch spent the minimum amount of time on the 10-day IL due to right shoulder tendinitis, but he'll report to Triple-A to begin the minor-league season. He posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.92 WHIP in 12 innings to begin the year.... See More ... See Less
