Mets' Luis Torrens: Pops second homer
Torrens went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Pirates.
He supplied the Mets' only offense on the afternoon with his fifth-inning solo shot off Mike Burrows. It was Torrens' first multi-hit performance since taking over from a demoted Francisco Alvarez as New York's No. 1 catcher, and his first long ball since March 31. On the season, Torrens is slashing .222/.296/.340 with two homers and 14 RBI in 51 contests.

Torrens is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Stepping in as starter
Torrens is expected to take over as the Mets' No. 1 catcher after Francisco Alvarez was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. He'll be behind the plate and bat sixth for Sunday's series finale in Philadelphia.
Torrens has served as New York's backup catcher since Alvarez was cleared for his season debut in late April, but the latter has been demoted due to his offensive struggles. Torrens has delivered a .232/.309/.344 slash line and strong defense, but he likely won't have much fantasy appeal outside of two-catcher formats.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Filling in for Alvarez
Torrens will start at catcher and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
The 29-year-old will get his third start behind the plate in four games, but he'll see his playing time dip once Francisco Alvarez (personal) returns from the paternity list, likely no later than Friday. Torrens has been productive enough when called upon this season, slashing .241/.328/.370 with a home run and 13 RBI over 122 plate appearances.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Back to No. 2 role
Torrens is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Torrens had started behind the plate in three of the Mets' last four contests, but his opportunities are expected to take a hit moving forward with Francisco Alvarez (personal) making his return from the paternity list Thursday. Mets' Luis Torrens: On base three times in win
Torrens went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.
The 29-year-old catcher has started seven of 19 games in May, hitting safely in the last five while batting. 300 (6-for-20) on the month. Torrens hasn't provided much other production, supplying just one RBI and two runs over that stretch, but half his hits have gone for extra bases (two doubles and a triple) and he sports a 7:4 BB:K. Francisco Alvarez is entrenched as the Mets' starter behind the plate, but Torrens' workload and current form still give him some fantasy value in deep NL-only formats.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Three hits in win
Torrens went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Athletics.
Torrens opened up the scoring with an RBI base knock in the sixth and added on more with an RBI-double in the ninth. He's been productive as the Mets' top option behind the dish while Francisco Alvarez (hand) has been sidelined to begin the season, slashing .333/.375/.567 with a home run, five RBI, two runs and a 2:7 BB:K in 32 plate appearances. However, with Alvarez currently in the midst of a rehab assignment and perhaps in line to return from the IL during the upcoming week, Torrens will soon be headed to a reserve role.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Held out again Wednesday
Torrens (forearm) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Torrens hasn't started a game since Friday due to a right forearm bruise. An MRI Tuesday came back negative, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, and the Mets have no plans at this point to place him on the 10-day injured list, so Torrens will aim to return to action Friday versus the Athletics following the Mets' team off day Thursday. Hayden Senger will catch and bat ninth Wednesday.
