Nationals' Dante Bichette Jr.: Returns to affiliated ball
Bichette joined the Nationals on a minor-league contract Friday.
Bichette hasn't appeared in affiliated baseball since 2017, failing to get past the Double-A level after hitting .242/.322/.349 in parts of four seasons for Trenton in the Yankees' organization. He's since spent time in two separate independent leagues, spending 2018 with the St. Paul Saints of the American Association and the first part of 2019 with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League. The 26-year-old hit .333/.373/.459 during his time in indy ball.

Dante Bichette Jr.: Heads to independent league
Bichette signed with the St. Paul Saints of the independent American Association, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.
Bichette was cut loose from the Rockies in spring training and failed to latch on elsewhere via a minor-league deal. The 25-year-old spent most of the last three seasons at Double-A in the Yankees' organization, never earning a promotion to Triple-A.

Dante Bichette Jr.: Cut by Rockies
Bichette was released by the Rockies on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
Bichette will now hit the open market and search for a minor-league deal elsewhere. Prior to joining the Rockies in the offseason, the 25-year-old had stalled at Double-A in the Yankees' organization, spending the majority of the past three seasons there while failing to make it to Triple-A.

Rockies' Dante Bichette Jr.: Minors deal with Rockies
Bichette signed a minor-league deal with the Rockies, Matt Kardos of Pinstriped Prospects reports.
Bichette appears to have stalled out at Double-A in the Yankees system, as that's where he's spent the majority of the last three seasons, never reaching Triple-A. He lacks the promise of his younger brother Bo, who is a top prospect in the Blue Jays' system. This is a homecoming of sorts as his father played for the Rockies from 1993 to 2000.

Yankees' Dante Bichette Jr.: Two home runs in first four contests
Bichette, 23, is 6-for-15 (.400) with two home runs and six RBI over the first four games of the year for Double-A Trenton.
Bichette already has nearly as many home runs in 2016 as he had all of last season (3). He struggled mightily in 2015 as he was shuttled between High-A and Double-A, slashing just .226/.274/.311 in a combined 112 games. A bounce back season could certainly put him back on the path to the big leagues, though, particularly with the impending retirement of Alex Rodriguez and the questionable play of Chase Headley.
