Grossman remains out of the lineup Tuesday for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Orioles. Texas will ride the hot hand with Mitch Garver, who is again filling the DH role and batting third after going 2-for-6 with a grand slam and five total RBI in Sunday's 11-8, Game 2 victory over Baltimore. Grossman is 2-for-14 with eight strikeouts so far this postseason.... See More ... See Less

Rangers' Robbie Grossman: On bench Game 2
Grossman is out of the lineup for Game 2 of the ALDS against the Orioles on Sunday. Grossman hit third as Texas' designated hitter in the first three games of the playoffs, but he'll take a seat Sunday after he went 2-for-14 with a double, a walk and eight strikeouts. Mitch Garver finished the regular season as the Rangers' primary DH and will fill that role in Game 2.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Starting at DH, batting third
Grossman is starting at designated hitter and batting third in Tuesday's Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rays. Grossman has always hit lefties better than righties and this season was no different, as he collected a .953 OPS against southpaws and just a .633 OPS versus right-handers. It makes him a curious choice for the DH spot versus and especially the three hole vs. righty Tyler Glasnow, but he's nonetheless manager Bruce Bochy's choice over Mitch Garver.... See More ... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Starts Monday
Grossman started in left field and went 0-for-1 with two walks in Monday's 5-1 win over the Angels. Grossman, who made his first start in nearly a week, was eventually replaced by Evan Carter when righty relievers came in to pitch. Grossman's plate appearances have ticked down since injured Rangers returned to the lineup last week. He's now the short side of a platoon in left field with Carter. Grossman's made eight plate appearances over the last seven games.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Playing time trending down
Grossman is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Red Sox. With Adolis Garcia and Josh Jung back in the fold, Grossman's run as a semi-regular may be at an end. He should still get some starts at designated hitter and in left field, but Evan Carter looks poised to get the majority of left-field starts, especially against righties, and Mitch Garver is starting at designated hitter for the second time in the last three games.... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Sitting Monday
Grossman isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Boston. Grossman was initially slated to man right field and bat sixth, but with Adolis Garcia officially back from a knee injury, he'll take a seat. Grossman and Evan Carter figure to fight for opportunities in left field with Garcia back in action.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Hot bat continues
Grossman went 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and two additional runs scored in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Blue Jays. Grossman continues to carry a hot bat, as he homered for a second straight game and is 5-for-9 in the series. He's filled in nicely for the injured Adolis Garcia (knee), starting five straight games while batting third in the last two.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Pops ninth homer
Grossman went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's victory over the Blue Jays. Grossman opened the game's scoring with his 375-foot, two-run homer off Hyun Jin Ryu in the fourth inning. The switch-hitting Grossman was drawing his fourth straight start in right field and looks to be manager Bruce Bochy's preferred replacement for Adolis Garcia (knee). Grossman is slashing .237/.328/.397 over 325 at-bats in 104 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Makes third straight start
Grossman started in right field and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 10-4 win over the Blue Jays. Grossman made a third straight start in right field, as Texas manager Bruce Bochy navigates the waters without injured outfielder Adolis Garcia (knee). The Rangers have won all three games with Grossman, who is 3-for-8 with three walks, three RBI and three runs scored. Garcia is out until at least Monday, so there should be opportunities for Grossman in the near term.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Sitting Friday
Grossman isn't in the Rangers' lineup Friday against Oakland. Grossman will get a breather Friday after failing to record a hit over his last four games. Ezequiel Duran will start in left field and bat seventh in Grossman's place.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Enters for injured Garcia
Grossman entered Wednesday's game for the injured Adolis Garcia (knee) and went 0-for-3 in a loss to Houston. Grossman went 0-for-7 during the three-game series against the Astros and is hitless in his last 10 at-bats. Garcia's exit put an exclamation point on an ugly series, during which Texas was swept by its division foe and outscored, 39-10. Grossman could get more plate appearances if Garcia's injury lingers. The Rangers are off Thursday before kicking off a three-game set Friday against the lowly Athletics.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Takes seat Wednesday
Grossman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. The 33-year-old started the previous five games but will sit against Houston righty Justin Verlander. Grossman appears to have reclaimed the primary job in left field, but it'll be Travis Jankowski who starts there in Wednesday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Gaining traction in left field
Grossman will start in left field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Twins. Grossman will pick up his third consecutive start in left field and has now been included in the lineup seven times in the past eight games. He's maintained a 1.034 OPS over his prior six starts and looks like he'll remain a priority in the Texas lineup over Travis Jankowski and J.P. Martinez while he's swinging a hot bat.... See More ... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Heads to bench Wednesday
Grossman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. Grossman will head to the bench after he started each of the last four games while going 3-for-11 with a double, four walks, two runs and two RBI over that stretch. With Mitch Garver having seemingly taken over as the Rangers' top designated hitter, Grossman is primarily battling the likes of Travis Jankowski and J.P. Martinez for playing time in left field.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Losing work to Garver
Grossman will start in left field and bat fifth in Sunday's game against the Twins. Grossman is back in the lineup for the second straight day after going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 6-2 win, but he didn't start in any of the preceding three games. Mitch Garver still appears to have the edge on the primary designated-hitter role for Texas, but Grossman will pick up a start in left field Sunday while Travis Jankowski rests.... See More ... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Picks up sixth straight start
Grossman will serve as the Rangers' designated hitter and No. 7 hitter in Wednesday's game against the Athletics. Though Grossman is maintaining an underwhelming .698 OPS on the season, he's at least been productive to begin August. After doubling twice and drawing a walk in Tuesday's 6-1 win, Grossman's slash line sits at .278/.381/.611 through six games this month. He'll remain in the lineup Wednesday for the sixth game in a row and should have a clear path to a regular role while Josh Jung (thumb) is on the shelf.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: May see increased role
Grossman started at designated hitter and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Marlins. Grossman made his third consecutive start and could see an uptick in plate appearances as the primary DH due to Josh Jung's thumb injury. The third baseman suffered a broken thumb on Sunday and likely faces a multi-week absence. Ezequiel Duran and Josh Smith are expected to fill in at third base, which opens up DH for Grossman. While that's a good thing for the player, it may be less so for fantasy managers. Grossman is batting .189 with a .634 OPS over 104 plate appearances since June 1. The Rangers could also rotation catchers Mitch Garver and Sam Huff at DH.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Ends homer drought
Grossman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Saturday's 9-8 win over the Marlins. His fourth-inning shot off George Soriano got the Rangers on the board and snapped a 25-game power drought -- his last homer came June 11. Grossman's playing time has become inconsistent over the last couple months, but with both Leody Taveras (.544 OPS since the All-Star break) and Ezequiel Duran (.448 OPS since the break) slumping, the door could be open for the veteran outfielder to reclaim some of those lost plate appearances. In 12 post-ASB games, Grossman has a .250/.382/.500 slash line.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Pair of hits in win
Grossman started in left field and went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple and two runs scored in Wednesday's 13-5 win over Houston. Grossman started for the first time in six games and was part of an emotional night in Houston that saw the benches clear, a couple of batters hit and Marcus Semien ejected. Travis Jankowski has become the left fielder du jour for the Rangers, which has marginalized Grossman who entered the contest with just 27 plate appearances during the month of July.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Snaps out of funk
Grossman started in left field and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-2 win over Boston. Grossman, who made his first start since June 27, was in a serious funk and entered Tuesday hitting .120 (6-for-50) over the previous 18 games, although he did generate 10 walks. Left field is filled with a rotation of bodies, and both Ezequiel Duran and Travis Jankowski are swinging a better bat than Grossman.... See More ... See Less
