Vejmelka allowed four goals on 24 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers. The fifth goal was an empty-netter. Vejmelka has lost four of his last five outings, and this was the second game in a row he's given up at least four goals. This is a poor time for his performance to dip, as Connor Ingram could provide a much larger challenge for starts than Jaxson Stauber did over much of the previous two months. Vejmelka is now 10-13-3 with a 2.54 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 28 appearances. Utah's next game is at home versus the Blues on Saturday.... See More ... See Less

Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Gets starting nod for Thursday
Vejmelka will be between the pipes at home versus the Rangers on Thursday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports. Vejmelka will look to bounce back from a difficult performance against Montreal on Tuesday in which he gave up five goals on 26 shots (.808 save percentage). The Rangers have started to find their offensive of late, scoring 3.29 goals per game in January, which is the sixth-best mark in the NHL since the calendar turned to 2025. At this point, Vejmelka is cemented in the No. 1 job in Utah, but Connor Ingram is waiting for his opportunity to stake his claim.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Stumbles against Canadiens
Vejmelka allowed five goals on 26 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Canadiens. Vejmelka had a rare awful outing in this one, especially considering Utah led 2-1 after the first period. He's had trouble getting positive results lately, going 2-5-1 over his last eight games while allowing 23 goals in that span. For the season, the 28-year-old netminder is 10-12-3 with a 2.48 GAA and a .912 save percentage over 27 contests. Vejmelka is likely to split time with Connor Ingram in some capacity, though it could be close to a 50-50 split if Vejmelka's performance remains shaky.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Named starter for Tuesday's game
Vejmelka will defend the home crease against the Canadiens on Tuesday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports. Vejmelka has gone 2-4-1 over his last seven starts, but his results haven't been particularly poor, as he's posted a 2.60 GAA and .910 save percentage during that time. The Canadiens have a middling offense, as they're tied for 17th in the league with 2.95 goals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Holds on for win
Vejmelka stopped 18 of 19 shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Sharks. The Sharks didn't generate a ton of pressure, but the game was tied 1-1 late into the third period. Barrett Hayton put Utah ahead 2-1 with 1:32 left, but the team still had to kill a penalty to preserve the lead over the final 56 seconds. Vejmelka was a winner for just the second time in his last seven outings, improving to 10-11-3 with a 2.38 GAA and a .916 save percentage over 26 appearances. Connor Ingram is back from an upper-body injury and likely to start Saturday versus the Islanders, but it's unclear how Utah will divide the goaltending duties beyond that contest. Vejmelka played well enough in Ingram's absence to deserve at least a 50-50 split of the starts over the remainder of January.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: First goalie off Friday
Vejmelka was the first goalie to leave the ice Friday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports, indicating he'll tend the twine at home versus San Jose. Vejmelka has given up three or more goals in four of his last six outings. Unsurprisingly, the netminder is sporting a 1-4-1 record over that stretch. Still, the 28-year-old backstop continues to see the bulk of the workload for Utah -- though Connor Ingram (upper body) is back from his conditioning assignment with AHL Tucson and could challenge Vejmelka for minutes.... Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Keeps things close in loss
Vejmelka allowed two goals on 31 shots in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Panthers. The last two goals were empty-netters. Vejmelka did a good job of keeping the game close, but Utah's offense didn't make enough of an impact. The 28-year-old netminder has now gone 1-4-1 with 17 goals allowed over his last six contests. He's not playing poorly, but it's another rough patch for an Utah team that has run a bit streaky in 2024-25. He's 9-11-3 with a 2.43 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 25 appearances this season. Utah's next two games come in a home back-to-back as they host the Sharks on Friday and the Islanders on Saturday, both of which represent favorable matchups, as they have offenses in the bottom quarter of the league.... Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Set to face Florida on Wednesday
Vejmelka will be between the pipes in Wednesday's home matchup against the Panthers, according to Brogan Houston of Deseret News Sports. Vejmelka is 1-0-1 through two starts in January while stopping a combined 49 of 55 shots in that span (.891 save percentage, 2.95 GAA). Florida ranks ninth in the NHL with 3.24 goals per game this season, but the team is 2-4-0 in its last six games. The 28-year-old Vejmelka has a 1-4-0 record, 3.91 GAA and .904 save percentage across five career games against the Panthers.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Falls in overtime
Vejmelka stopped 26 of 29 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars. Vejmelka has allowed 15 goals over his last five games, but he's arguably been a little unlucky to go 1-3-1 in that span. While not as sharp as he's been throughout the campaign overall, Vejmelka isn't in a deep slump, either. He's 9-10-3 with a 2.45 GAA and a .914 save percentage through 24 appearances. Connor Ingram (upper body) has been on a conditioning loan with AHL Tucson for nearly a week, so Vejmelka's run as Utah's unquestioned No. 1 may be close to ending. The latter should still see ample playing time in a timeshare once Ingram is activated.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Starting in Dallas
Vejmelka will guard the road net Saturday against the Stars, Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune reports. Vejmelka's been solid recently, going 5-3-1 with a .912 save percentage in his last nine games. Overall, he's 9-10-2 on the season with a .915 save percentage and a 2.43 GAA while serving as Utah's primary netminder in the absence of Connor Ingram (upper body).... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Tough-luck loss Monday
Vejmelka stopped 28 of 32 shots in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Kraken, with Seattle's final goal getting scored into an empty net. While his numbers looked shaky, Vejmelka has little chance on any of the pucks that got past him, including Jaden Schwartz's game-winner in the third period on a clean breakaway. Vejmelka has lost three straight starts, and the heavy workload he's been handling while Connor Ingram (upper body) is on the shelf may be wearing him down. Vejmelka has started 10 of Utah's 12 games in December, going 5-4-1 with a 2.40 GAA and a .915 save percentage.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: In goal Monday
Vejmelka will defend the road net against Seattle on Monday, according to Cole Bagley of KSL Sports. In his last outing, Vejmelka stopped 33 of 35 shots in a 4-1 loss to Colorado on Friday. He has posted a record of 8-9-2 with a 2.32 GAA and a .918 save percentage through 21 appearances this season. Seattle ranks 23rd in the league with 2.78 goals per game in 2024-25.... See More ... Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Takes loss at home
Vejmelka stopped 33 of 35 shots in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Avalanche. The last two goals were empty-netters. Artturi Lehkonen scored both goals Vejmelka surrendered, and the Avalanche winger would add the second empty-netter to complete his hat trick. Vejmelka has now lost consecutive decisions in regulation for the first time since mid-November. The 28-year-old still offers excellent play, though the goal support has ebbed and flowed at times this year. Overall, Vejmelka is 8-9-2 with a 2.32 GAA and a .918 save percentage through 21 appearances. Utah has a back-to-back up next with a favorable matchup in Seattle on Monday followed by a tougher game in Edmonton on Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Extends win streak to four games
Vejmelka stopped 28 of 29 shots in Friday's 2-1 win over the Wild. Mats Zuccarello opened the scoring midway through the first period, but that was all the Wild could put past Vejmelka. Dylan Guenther provided the offense with both of Utah's goals, and Vejmelka protected the lead for the last 10 minutes of the third. He's won four starts in a row, giving up seven goals on 101 shots in that span. Vejmelka is at an 8-7-2 record with a 2.29 GAA and a .918 save percentage through 19 appearances this season. Utah's got a back-to-back up next -- they host the Ducks on Sunday and the Stars on Monday, so Vejmelka could start Monday's game if the team opts to play its top goalie against the stronger opponent.... Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: First off ice Friday
Vejmelka was the first goaltender off the ice at morning skate and is slated to patrol the visiting crease in Minnesota on Friday, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports. Vejmelka has won three straight games, allowing only six goals on 72 shots (.917 save percentage). Overall, Vejmelka is 7-7-2 with a gaudy 2.37 GAA and a .915 save percentage this year. The Wild are averaging 3.06 goals per game in 2024-25, which is tied for 15th in the NHL.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Secures overtime win
Vejmelka stopped 24 of 26 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Canucks. Utah trailed 2-0 early in the third period but rallied back with the help of Vejmelka preventing the Canucks from growing their lead. The 28-year-old goalie has won three straight and earned at least a standings point in five straight games. He improved to 7-7-2 with a 2.37 GAA and a .915 save percentage through 18 appearances this season. Connor Ingram (upper body) has not progressed in his recovery, so it's safe to assume Vejmelka will function as Utah's No. 1 goalie through at least the end of December. Utah visits Minnesota on Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Slated to start Wednesday
Vejmelka will patrol the home crease against Vancouver on Wednesday, according to Cole Bagley of KSL Sports. Vejmelka has won his last two outings, stopping 42 of 46 shots. He has a 6-7-2 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .915 save percentage through 17 appearances this season. Vancouver ranks 12th in the league with 3.21 goals per game in 2024-25.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Fends off Sharks
Vejmelka stopped 19 of 22 shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Sharks. The Sharks twice took a one-goal lead, but Utah wouldn't let them pull away. Vejmelka held firm, and a pair of Utah goals in the third period lifted the team to a narrow win. This was the first time Vejmelka has earned wins in consecutive outings all season. He's now 6-7-2 with a 2.40 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 17 appearances. Utah's next game is at home Wednesday versus the Canucks. Connor Ingram (upper body) does not appear close to a return yet, so Vejmelka is likely to remain in the No. 1 role through the holiday break.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Guarding road goal
Vejmelka is set to start on the road against San Jose on Saturday, per Belle Fraser of The Salt Lake Tribune. Vejmelka has a 5-7-2 record, 2.36 GAA and .917 save percentage in 16 outings in 2024-25. He stopped 23 of 24 shots en route to a 4-1 victory over Colorado on Thursday. The Sharks rank 23rd in goals per game with 2.75.... See More ... See Less -
Hockey Club's Karel Vejmelka: Loses in shootout
Vejmelka gave up four goals on 38 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Wild. Vejmelka twice let one-goal leads slip away, including giving up a game-tying goal to Marco Rossi in the final minute of regulation. Matt Boldy had the lone tally in the shootout to send Vejmelka to his third loss in four outings (1-1-2). He slipped to 4-7-2 with a 2.45 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 15 contests. The 28-year-old continues to fill in admirably for Connor Ingram (upper body), who will return to practice this week but is not considered close to drawing back into the lineup just yet. As such, expect Vejmelka between the pipes for a tough road matchup in Colorado on Thursday.... See More ... See Less
