  • Diamondbacks' Kyle Garlick: Cut from Arizona's camp

The Diamondbacks reassigned Garlick to minor-league camp Monday. Unless Garlick's minor-league contract contains an opt-out clause that enables him to pursue an opportunity elsewhere, he's expected to remain in the organization and serve as corner-outfield depth at Triple-A Reno. He logged 30 plate appearances at the big-league level with Minnesota in 2023, slashing .179/.233/.429 with two home runs and four RBI.

  • Diamondbacks' Kyle Garlick: Invited to D-backs' camp

Garlick signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday and received an invitation to major-league spring training, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. Garlick logged five hits in 28 big-league at-bats with Minnesota last season, but he slashed .242/.346/.450 with 65 RBI across 355 plate appearances in Triple-A. He will have an opportunity to make Arizona's Opening Day roster during camp, but chances are the 32-year-old outfielder fills in as organizational depth with Triple-A Reno.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Outrighted to Triple-A

Garlick cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Garlick was optioned to Triple-A on June 13 and ultimately designated for assignment Tuesday, but he'll stick around in the Twins organization. The 31-year-old outfielder is slashing .210/.308/.427 through 143 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, and he would have to be added back to the 40-man roster in order to return to Minneapolis.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Designated for assignment

Garlick was designated for assignment by the Twins on Tuesday. Oliver Ortega had his contract selected from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding roster move. Garlick has shown promising flashes at times, but the 31-year-old outfielder heads into DFA limbo with a weak .225 batting average and .277 on-base percentage in 375 career major-league plate appearances.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Optioned to Triple-A

Garlick was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A St. Paul, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Joey Gallo (hamstring) is back from the injured list, so Garlick gets the boot. He went 1-for-11 (.091) with zero walks and five strikeouts during his latest stay on the Twins' major-league roster.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Back in big leagues

Garlick was recalled by the Twins on Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Garlick was optioned Monday but didn't even have to wait a full week for his next opportunity, as he's up to replace the injured Joey Gallo (hamstring). Garlick has been exactly a league-average bat in parts of five big-league season, slashing .229/.283/.449 (good for a 100 wRC+) in 364 trips to the plate. He could see playing time against lefties but is unlikely to claim an everyday role.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Headed back to minors

The Twins optioned Garlick to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday. The demotion of Garlick clears a spot on the Twins' 26-man active roster for infielder Royce Lewis (knee), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Monday's game in Houston. Following his call-up from Triple-A on May 19, Garlick had largely served as a short-side platoon outfielder for the Twins, appearing in five games while going 3-for-10 with a home run, a double, two walks and three RBI.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Set to return to minors

Garlick will be optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. Garlick was recalled by the Twins in mid-May, and he went 3-for-10 with a homer, a double and three RBI over five games with the big-league club. However, he'll head back to the minors since Max Kepler (hamstring) and Royce Lewis (knee) will be reinstated from the injured list Monday.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Back in majors

Garlick was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday. Garlick is 1-for-7 in the majors this season, although his one hit was a solo home run. He's spent most of his time with Triple-A St. Paul, where he holds a .210/.319/.410 slash line through 116 plate appearances. He will take the place of Nick Gordon (leg), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Garlick should see a fair bit of playing time as the Twins deal with injuries in the outfield and continue to deploy Byron Buxton exclusively as a DH.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Could be added to roster

Garlick will join up with the Twins ahead of Friday's series opener at the Angels, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Joey Gallo (shin) and Jorge Polanco (hamstring) both made early exits from Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers, so Garlick has been summoned in the event that some roster shuffling will be required. The 31-year-old outfielder is 1-for-7 with a homer in three games this season at the MLB level. He's hit .210/.319/.410 with five homers in 26 games at Triple-A St. Paul.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Called up

The Twins selected Garlick's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Garlick has a .738 OPS with a couple homers so far this season with St. Paul. The 31-year-old has a career .839 OPS versus left-handed pitching and could see a little playing time against southpaws with Max Kepler (knee) and Joey Gallo (ribs) on the injured list.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Likely to receive call-up

Garlick is expected to be added to the Twins' 40-man roster Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Garlick will apparently get the call to help replace Kyle Farmer, who needs dental surgery after getting struck in the face by a pitch Wednesday against the White Sox. Garlick owns a career .229 batting average and .281 on-base percentage in 345 major-league plate appearances, but he has popped 17 home runs. The 31-year-old outfielder will probably be used mostly as a bench bat.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Moved to minors camp

The Twins reassigned Garlick to minor-league camp Sunday. Garlick received an invitation to spring training despite being outrighted off the roster in January. The outfielder will head to Triple-A St. Paul to add organizational depth for the 2023 campaign.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Clears waivers, sent to Triple-A

Garlick cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A St. Paul by the Twins on Tuesday. Garlick will be invited to major-league spring training. The soon-to-be 31-year-old boasts a career .839 OPS against left-handed pitching, so he could still have a short-side platoon role at some point down the road.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Removed from 40-man roster

Garlick was designated for assignment by the Twins on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. As a result of the Twins officially signing Carlos Correa on Wednesday, Garlick was DFA'd to make room for the shortstop on the 40-man roster. Garlick will now either report to Triple-A St. Paul, get claimed by another team, or get released outright, the last of which seems very unlikely. The outfielder appeared in 66 games with Minnesota in 2022, batting .233 with nine homers, 18 RBI and 23 runs over 150 at-bats.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Twins transferred Garlick (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday. Garlick wasn't able to take part in any minor-league rehab games after he was placed on the IL on Sept. 16 with the left wrist sprain, and even though he's likely made some progress in his recovery over the past two and a half weeks, the Twins won't have him return in 2022. He'll wrap up his second season in Minnesota with a .233/.284/.433 slash line and nine home runs over 162 plate appearances.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Exits with hand injury

Garlick left Thursday's game in the seventh inning due to pain in his wrist and hand, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. He underwent testing after the game. It sounds like he'll need a day or two off as a result.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Takes seat Wednesday

Garlick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. Garlick has benefited from an uptick in playing time of late while Byron Buxton and Max Kepler have missed time with injuries, but the 30-year-old will get a breather Wednesday. He had started each of the past three contests, going 1-for-11 with five strikeouts.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Starting rehab assignment Wednesday

Garlick (rib cage) said he will report to Triple-A St. Paul to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Garlick noted that the pain in his bruised rib cage has gone down significantly since he was first placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 4, so he may need only one or two rehab games before he's deemed ready to rejoin the big club. He could be activated as soon as Friday, depending on how he fares on the rehab assignment. When healthy, the righty-hitting Garlick has been a fixture in the lineup versus left-handed pitching.

  • Twins' Kyle Garlick: Close to rehab assignment

Garlick (rib cage) is progressing toward taking live at-bats and could begin a rehab assignment within a few days, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Garlick has been on the injured list since Aug. 4 with a bruised right rib cage. The righty-hitting 30-year-old outfielder has been a key weapon against left-handed pitching this season, producing a .928 OPS in those matchups.
