Here are some news and notes from around the Pac-12.

  • If the Washington Huskies were anticipating a boost from the football team, it appears it's not going to happen. Washington tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins decided not to play basketball this season, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times writes. Seferian-Jenkins is expected to be one of the top tight ends in the country next season and has set most of Washington's receiving records for a tight end. "I just need to focus on school and get (rested)," Seferian-Jenkins said. "I don't feel like I'd be able to help the basketball team much right now."

     
  • There's familiar, and there's what Mike MacIntyre is doing to his Colorado coaching staff. MacIntyre has hired six of his former San Jose State assistants to his new coaching staff, writes Kyle Ringo of the Denver Post. In addition to offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren and defensive coordinator Kent Baer, MacIntyre has brought along Jim Jeffcoat, Klayton Adams, Gary Bernardi and Charles Clark, though their roles are yet to be determined. Ringo added that veteran linebackers coach Brian Cabral told Colorado officials he plans to retire.

  • The USC football team is in sore need of an attitude adjustment after a disappointing 7-6 season, writes Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register. The Trojans lost to Georgia Tech, 21-7, in the Sun Bowl, becoming the first preseason No. 1-ranked team to lose six games in a season.

     
  • The Arizona Wildcats have a lot to offer exciting young running backs. The chief selling point -- the success of redshirt sophomore Ka'Deem Carey, writes Danuel Berk of the Arizona Daily Star. Carey officially won the national rushing title on Thursday night after Oregon running back Kenjon Barner was bottled up by Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl. Now the Wildcats are seeing the fruits of Carey's labor, as they got a verbal commitment from T.J. Johnson, a three-star athlete out of Florida who rates as the No. 85 running back in the country.
