- Georgia's All-American outside linebacker, Jarvis Jones, explains why he came back to school instead of going to the NFL. He said he wants to "just seize the moment I have right now."
- Tennessee's Greg Clark (6-2, 316) has made a stunning depth-chart rise and could play substantial snaps at nose tackle. He studies the technique of NFL studs B.J. Raji, Jay Ratliff and Casey Hampton.
- The cover of ESPN The Magazine's college football preview issue screams "Curse The SEC!" Then adds: "Can someone please take down college football's most dominant conference?"
- Alabama corner Dee Milliner is predicting a breakout for junior wideout Kevin Norwood. Milliner describes Norwood as a terrific route runner with great hands.
- Tight end Eric Waters is stepping into a prime role in Missouri's offense. The previous starter, Michael Egnew, made 140 catches in two seasons before reaching the NFL.
- Vandy senior linebacker Archibald Barnes said he "wants everyone to know who Vanderbilt is and who the linebacking corps is, and that we are not here to play games but we’re here to win games.” Barnes had 59 tackles, three forced fumbles and two interceptions last season.
