Player Outlook
Stevenson had a breakout season in 2022, but his chances of truly hitting his ceiling took a hit when the Patriots signed Ezekiel Elliott in mid-August. Stevenson should be drafted as a No. 2 option in all formats with a Round 4 pick in PPR and a Round 5 pick in non-PPR. It's not that Elliott is still a great running back, it's more like Elliott might take just enough carries and just enough touchdowns away from Stevenson to limit his Fantasy upside. It should be mentioned that Stevenson averaged 12.5 PPR points per game in eight games when Damien Harris had at least 10 touches in 2022. Fantasy managers might expect Stevenson to outproduce that average this year with Elliott -- some consistency with his targets would be huge -- but not hit 15 PPR points per game unless Elliott were to miss some time.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Gets 20 touches in Week 3

Stevenson rushed 19 times for 59 yards and caught one of four targets for three yards in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Jets. Stevenson finished with three more rushing attempts than Ezekiel Elliott, but Zeke had 21 more rushing yards in the veteran running back's best game as a member of the Patriots. After catching all nine of his targets through two games, Stevenson had trouble catching passes in slick conditions. The versatile Stevenson can play in all situations, and he should continue to lead New England's backfield in touches against the Cowboys in Week 4.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Finds end zone in loss

Stevenson rushed 15 times for 50 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 24-17 loss to Miami. Stevenson was heading for another down game before a late touchdown saved his fantasy day. The 25-year-old finished ahead of veteran Ezekiel Elliott (5-13-0) in carries for the second consecutive week, confirming his status as the lead back in New England. Stevenson has just 75 rushing yards through two games, but his ground production should increase when the Patriots' brutal early season schedule softens up. There is nothing soft about the Jets' defense, which will host Stevenson and the Patriots next Sunday.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Productive as pass catcher

Stevenson rushed the ball 12 times for 25 yards in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Eagles. He added six receptions on six targets for 64 yards. Stevenson led the Patriots' backfield in workload, racking up 18 total touches as compared to Ezekiel Elliott's 12. Neither produced much on the ground -- Elliott was more efficient -- but Stevenson shined as a pass catcher, particularly late in the game as New England was trying to catch up on the scoreboard. The split in workload between the backfield duo will be worth watching, but Stevenson should find slightly more room to work with in a Week 2 matchup against the Dolphins.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Suits up Sunday

Stevenson (illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Eagles. An illness caused Stevenson to miss practice Friday, but as expected he'll give it a go Sunday and as long as he's sufficiently past the issue, the 2021 fourth-rounder appears poised to lead New England's backfield, with newcomer Ezekiel Elliott on hand to provide support and potentially absorb some of the team's short-yardage duty. Also in the depth mix as a change-of-pace option is the versatile Ty Montgomery, who rejoined the team's 53-man roster Saturday.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Listed as questionable for opener

Stevenson is listed as questionable for Sunday's season opener against the Eagles after missing Friday's practice due to an illness, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. While Stevenson heads into the weekend officially listed as questionable, Lazar relays that the running back is expected to play after Friday's rest day. In any case, Stevenson's Week 1 status will be confirmed once the Patriots' inactives are posted ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Stevenson is available versus Philadelphia, he'll be in line to lead a backfield that also includes newcomer Ezekiel Elliott.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Expected to play Sunday

Stevenson, who missed Friday's practice, is reportedly dealing with a stomach bug, according to Karen Guregian of masslive.com. Per the report, the expectation is that the running back will be ready to go for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Eagles. Either way, the Patriots' upcoming Friday injury report will confirm whether or not Stevenson heads into the weekend with a Week 1 injury status.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Not spotted at practice

Stevenson wasn't spotted during the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Stevenson hasn't been listed on the Patriots' injury report this week, but his status is now worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles. Added context regarding the running back's Week 1 standing should arrive once the team's Friday practice/injury report is posted.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Finds end zone Saturday

Stevenson rushed four times for 27 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason win over Green Bay. Stevenson made his debut with the rest of the regulars Saturday, ripping off a 23-yard gain and scoring a touchdown as he lines up to start for New England this season. He did not record a catch but is reportedly expected to see plenty of passing game work after grabbing an unexpected 69 receptions last year. The bruising back also eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing threshold in his second season as pro in 2022. The signing of Ezekiel Elliott (DNP on Saturday) hurts Stevenson's fantasy value if the veteran eats into his projected share of carries or becomes a touchdown vulture. We will find out how the playing time is distributed once the season kicks off, but Stevenson should be considered the starting back and preferred fantasy option in New England's backfield.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Backfield depth added

The Patriots have added depth and experience to their backfield behind Stevenson by adding Ezekiel Elliott to the mix, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports. Although Stevenson remains to the team's top option at running back, the addition of Elliott gives the Patriots a proven veteran to handle complementary work and help ease their returning starter's workload. From a fantasy perspective, the presence of Elliott could cost Stevenson some work in early-down and short-yardage situations, but the 2021 fourth-rounder still should handle enough touches -- including in the team's passing game, per Lazar -- on a weekly basis to maintain lineup utility. Beyond the aforementioned duo, Ty Montgomery (leg), Pierre Strong (undisclosed) and Kevin Harris are in the mix for depth/change-of-pace slotting in New England's RB corps.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Limited Monday

Stevenson (undisclosed) spent most of Monday's practice running on the Patriots' lower rehab field,Paul Perillo of the team's official site reports. Whether Stevenson is dealing with a minor injury or simply having his training camp reps monitored isn't clear, but his limitations Monday allowed Kevin Harris, Pierre Strong and J.J. Taylor to garner additional reps. It remains to be seen if the Patriots add veteran backfield depth, but for now the above trio, as well as Ty Montgomery (leg) -- once he returns to practice -- are in the mix to compete for complementary work behind Stevenson.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Finishes with 1,461 scrimmage yards

Stevenson rushed six times for 54 yards and caught five of six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 35-23 loss to the Bills. Stevenson was far more effective than Damien Harris (13 carries for 48 yards), yet Harris got more rushing attempts in this must-win game. New England was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Stevenson's success in a workhorse role while Harris was out helped the second-year running back post 1,040 rushing yards and 421 receiving yards, along with six scrimmage touchdowns on 279 touches. Harris is set to be a free agent in 2023, so Stevenson could be in line for a substantial bump in usage.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Slated to play Sunday

Stevenson (ankle) is in line to suit up for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports. Stevenson has been tending to an ankle injury since a Week 14 win at Arizona, but he continued to lead the Patriots backfield the last two contests en route to 36 touches for 201 yards from scrimmage and a rushing TD. This week, he was limited in practice Wednesday through Friday and was tagged as questionable for Week 17 action, but it appears as if he'll be available Sunday for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If he's active, Stevenson will be welcoming back fellow RB Damien Harris (thigh/personal), who has missed the past four outings.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Listed as questionable for Sunday

Stevenson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. It'd be a surprise if Stevenson sat out Sunday's game, though his status still is worth tracking ahead of New England's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming he's able to play, Stevenson would figure to continue to handle a key role in the Patriots' Week 17 backfield, though he could lose some touches to Damien Harris (thigh/personal), who is set to return to from a four-game absence this weekend.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Another limited practice

Stevenson (ankle) remained limited at practice Thursday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. Meanwhile, fellow running back Damien Harris, who has been limited at practice of late due to a thigh issue, missed Thursday's session due to a personal matter. Friday's injury report will reveal added context with regard to the duo's status for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but chances are that both Stevenson and Harris end up officially listed as 'questionable' for Week 17 action.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Limited at practice Wednesday

Stevenson (ankle) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday. Fellow running back Damien Harris (thigh) was also a limited participant, but given that Stevenson has been able to play through his ankle issue of late, he most likely had his reps capped Wednesday for maintenance-related reasons. Harris, on the other hand, hasn't seen game action since Week 12. So long as he's able to continue practicing in some fashion Thursday and Friday, Stevenson should be in good shape to play in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, though he could carry a designation into the weekend.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Likely to face Bengals

Stevenson (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Bengals, is likely to play in the contest, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. While Stevenson appears to be trending toward being available in Week 16, Rapoport adds that Damien Harris (thigh) is viewed as more of a game-time decision. Either way, the status of the two running backs will be determined before the first wave of games Saturday, with the Patriots kicking off at 1 p.m. ET.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Listed on injury report again

Stevenson (ankle) is listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's practice report estimate. Stevenson played through the injury and ran for 172 yards in Sunday's loss to the Raiders, bouncing back quickly after the ankle sprain forced him from a Monday night win over the Cardinals six days earlier. He'll likely be out there and leading the New England rushing attack this Saturday in a trickier matchup with the Bengals.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Huge performance against Raiders

Stevenson carries the ball 19 times for 172 yards and a touchdown and caught two of three targets for minus-4 yards in Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Raiders. The second-year back set a new career high in rushing yards for a game, topping the 161 yards he racked up against the Lions in Week 5 of this season, and Stevenson's 34-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter gave the Patriots a 24-17 lead, seemingly setting the team up for a win before a disastrous final minute. Stevenson appeared to be completely over the ankle injury that limited him last week in Arizona, but he gets a tough matchup in Week 16 against a Bengals defense that has stifled the likes of Nick Chubb and Derrick Henry over the last month.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Listed as active Sunday

Stevenson (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports. Stevenson, who didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, returned to a limited session Friday and will give it a go Sunday, though it remains to be seen how close to a full workload he'll see after being limited to 13 snaps this past Monday against the Cardinals due to an ankle injury. In any case, with Damien Harris (thigh) inactive, the Patriots will take all they can get from their leading rusher in Week 15, with rookies Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris on hand to provide support in the event that Stevenson is limited at all or suffers any setbacks versus Las Vegas.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Game-time call, trending well

Stevenson (ankle) is listed as questionable and is considered a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's contest against the Raiders, though he has a "good chance" at suiting up, a source tells Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Though Stevenson looks to be trending in the right direction for the Week 15 contest, his status will ultimately be determined by a pregame workout before the Patriots make a call on his status when the team releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. The running back's ankle injury limited him to just 13 snaps in the Patriots' Week 14 win over the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Damien Harris (thigh) has been downgraded to out versus the Raiders, so Stevenson may not face much of a challenge from rookies Pierre Strong or Kevin Harris for work if he's available.
