Bryant (suspension) was waived by the Panthers on Thursday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Bryant signed a future deal in January after finishing 2020 on Carolina's practice squad, but he was never likely to make the season-opening roster after picking up a two-game suspension over the summer for substance abuse. The 24-year-old last saw game action in 2019 with the Cowboys and caught a 15-yard touchdown in 12 contests.

Panthers' Ventell Bryant: Two-game suspension
Bryant received a two-game suspension Wednesday for violating the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The wideout, who is fighting for a depth role on the Panthers' roster, will be permitted to participate in the team's training camp and preseason games and will be eligible to return to Carolina's active roster ahead of Week 3. The 24-year-old has one catch (a 15-yard touchdown) to his credit over 12 career NFL games, which all came with Dallas in 2019.

The Panthers signed Bryant to a reserve/future contract Monday, Will Bryan of the team's official site reports.
Bryant signed with the Panthers' practice squad in December and will stick with the team with hopes of making the 53-man roster in 2021. The 24-year-old played in 12 games for the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie in 2019, recording a 15-yard touchdown catch on his lone target.

Ventell Bryant: Agrees to injury settlement
The Cowboys waived Bryant (knee) from IR with an injury settlement Tuesday, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Bryant returned to practice nearly two weeks ago, opening the 21-day window for him to be activated from IR. The Cowboys waiving the receiver could be a sign that he wasn't going to be healthy at the end of the window, but it may simply mean that they're content with their wideout corps. Bryant will seek a depth role elsewhere once he's healthy.

Bryant finished the regular season seeing only 23 snaps on offense and catching his only target for a 15-yard touchdown through 12 games.
An undrafted free agent out of Temple, the rookie receiver initially got a look from the Bengals over the summer before winding up as primarily a special-teams player in Dallas after his promotion from the practice squad in Week 5. His Week 13 visit to the end zone provided a nice highlight, but there's no guarantee Bryant can even hang onto a roster spot in 2020.
