  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Reworks contract

The Buccaneers restructured Gage's contact Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Gage agreed to adjust his 2023 base salary from $10 million to $7 million, thus creating some slight relief for the cap-strapped Buccaneers. This renegotiated contract does fully guarantee his payment for the 2023 season, which represents a $2 million increase in guaranteed salary, according to Greg Auman of Fox Sports. Gage's new deal also includes multiple salary incentives that will give him an opportunity to earn back some of his previous salary.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Avoids neck injury

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that Gage (concussion) has movement in all of his extremities and should be released from the hospital later Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Gage was hospitalized after exiting late in the fourth quarter of Monday's 31-14 loss to the Cowboys in the wild-card round upon taking a hit to the back of his head/neck area. While Gage has been diagnosed with a concussion, Bowles disclosed that the Buccaneers have ruled out any neck injury for the veteran receiver. Provided he isn't experiencing long-term symptoms of the concussion, Gage looks like he'll be a full participant by the time OTAs begin in the spring. Gage, who tallied two catches for 10 yards on eight targets before exiting Monday's contest, finished the regular season -- his first in Tampa Bay -- with a 51-426-5 receiving line over 13 games.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Has movement in all extremities

The Buccaneers announced Tuesday that Gage (concussion/neck) remained overnight for additional testing at a local hospital following Monday's loss to the Cowboys, and that he has regained movement in all his extremities. Tampa Bay's statement notes that Gage will undergo additional testing Tuesday. The wideout had to be carted off the field during Monday's wild-card playoff loss against Dallas due to a neck injury and concussion. The Buccaneers will provide further updates about the 26-year-old's health as more information becomes available.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Suffers concussion Monday

Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said postgame that Gage sustained a concussion during Monday's wild-card loss to Dallas, and he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated for an additional neck injury, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Gage had to be carted off the field after sustaining this injury late in the fourth quarter, as he was down on the field for some time following a hit from behind to his head and neck. Bowles added that the 26-year-old had movement in his extremities before being transported to the hospital, per Smith. This subsequent medical examination should provide more clarity on the nature and extent of this potential neck injury as well.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Carted off late in wild-card loss

Gage was loaded onto a backboard and carted off the field after sustaining an undisclosed injury in the fourth quarter of Monday's 31-14 playoff defeat versus the Cowboys, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Gage sustained a blow from behind to the head and neck area while attempting to catch an incomplete pass late in the fourth quarter. The exact nature of this injury still is unclear, though the 26-year-old was unable to get up and had to be tended to on the field for an extended period before being carted off, according to Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Finds end zone in finale

Gage secured three of six targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 30-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. Gage recorded a three-yard touchdown grab in conjunction with Blaine Gabbert late in the second quarter, which served as the highlight of his abbreviated workday. With Julio Jones (knee) inactive and seemingly a 50/50 proposition to play each week, Gage could be in for an elevated role in next weekend's home wild-card matchup after finishing the regular season with a surge that saw him tally four of his five scores in the last five games.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Week 17 Waiver Priority List

Gage doesn't have as much appeal when Julio Jones is healthy, but Gage has been productive of late for Tampa Bay and Fantasy managers. In his past three games, Gage has three touchdowns and has scored at least 11 PPR points twice. He also has 18 targets in his past two games. Tom Brady is relying on Gage, and Fantasy managers can consider him a No. 3 PPR receiver in deeper leagues in Week 17 against the Panthers.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Strong contributions again Sunday

Gage brought in five of six targets for 65 yards in the Buccaneers' 19-16 overtime win over the Cardinals on Sunday night. Gage put together another strong performance despite Julio Jones garnering active status after missing the Week 15 loss to the Bengals with a knee injury. Gage's yardage total checked in second on the night for the Bucs, and he made critical 23- and 13-yard grabs on the game-winning drive in overtime despite appearing to hurt his leg on each catch. The veteran wideout's 18 targets over the last pair of contests is certainly encouraging after he played a minimal role for weeks, and it remains to be seen if Tom Brady will lean heavily on him again in a pivotal Week 17 home divisional clash against the Panthers.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Week 16 Adds (WR Preview)

The Cardinals have been pretty good against No. 1 wide receivers this season and pretty terrible at everything else defensively. Gage has turned into a red-zone threat for Tom Brady with three touchdowns in his past two games and earned 12 targets last week with Julio Jones out. If Jones is out again, Gage is a No. 3 wide receiver against Arizona.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Week 16 Waiver Priority List

Gage had a breakout game in Week 15 against Cincinnati with Julio Jones (knee), and maybe Gage can step up again in Week 16 against Arizona. Gage had eight catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns on 12 targets against the Bengals, and he also scored in Week 14 at San Francisco. We'll see if he can have a strong finish to a disappointing season, especially if Jones is out, and Gage can be a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in Week 16 in deeper leagues.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: In line for No. 3 role Sunday

Gage is expected to slot into the No. 3 receiver role in Sunday's game against the Bengals with Julio Jones (knee) inactive for the contest, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Gage has plenty of experience stepping up in the wide receiver pecking order, considering Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jones have all missed time to varying degrees this season. However, the expanded opportunities haven't led to much meaningful fantasy production, as Gage enters Sunday's game with a modest 32-254-2 line across nine contests.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Scores team's only TD in loss

Gage brought in both targets for 12 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 35-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 14. Gage was responsible for the Bucs' only reason to celebrate on the afternoon, making a literal shoestring scoring grab on a ball that caromed off both teammate Chris Godwin and the 49ers' Fred Warner at the goal line, just barely managing to break the plane, as confirmed by instant replay review. The modest numbers overall were par for the course in a disappointing, injury-riddled first season in Tampa Bay for Gage, however, as he'll carry a 32-254-2 line and tallies of 39 receiving yards or less in six consecutive contests into a Week 15 home interconference matchup against the Bengals.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: One catch in return

Gage brought in his only target for 11 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night. Making his first appearance since Week 7, Gage unsurprisingly filled a low-volume role as the No. 4 receiver. He had recorded multiple receptions in each of his first seven games of the campaign prior to being sidelined, but with Julio Jones now healthy and slotting into the No. 3 role, Gage's already modest value is capped unless injuries again strike Tampa Bay's WR depth chart.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Back in action Monday

Gage (hamstring) is active for Monday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Gage put himself in a position for his first game action since Week 7 by logging a full practice Saturday, but the Buccaneers' receiving corps is as healthy as it's been all season, meaning his snap count may be capped working behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones. More than likely, Gage will be vying with Scotty Miller for reps in multi-WR sets.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Trending in positive direction

Gage (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday's contest against the Saints, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Gage was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday, but the veteran receiver was upgraded to a full participant in the final practice of the week, which should be a good sign for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old has not played since Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, and he had just one game with more than two receptions in the four weeks prior to suffering the aforementioned injury.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Another limited practice

Gage (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Friday. Gage has now practiced on back-to-back days after not doing so at all since Week 7. He's close to a return, but it might not happen for Monday's game against the Saints, especially given that the Bucs don't need him as much with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones all healthy at the moment.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Begins week as limited participant

Gage (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Gage's limited session marks his first recorded practice activity since Week 7. Considering that he's missed each of the Buccaneers' last four games over a stretch of five weeks, Gage may need to upgrade to full participation in practices Friday or Saturday to have a good chance at playing Monday against the Saints. Even if Gage is active for that contest, he'll likely find himself as the fourth man on the depth chart at receiver, as all of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones are currently healthy.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Sidelined for Week 12

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Gage (hamstring) won't play Sunday in Cleveland, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Even with the benefit of a Week 11 bye, Gage didn't demonstrate enough progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury during practices Wednesday through Friday for the Buccaneers to feel comfortable with him suiting up this weekend. With Gage set to miss a fourth straight game, Godwin should operate as the Buccaneers' primary slot man, while Julio Jones will get more opportunities to work out on the perimeter opposite Mike Evans.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Doesn't practice Thursday

Gage (hamstring) was listed as a DNP on Thursday's practice report. Gage has yet to log anything but a DNP on Buccaneers injury reports since hurting his hamstring back in Week 7. However, he was seen working with the training staff on the side during the portion of Thursday's session open to the media, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Another absence may be in the offing for Gage on Sunday in Cleveland, which may be confirmed as early as Friday. While he's sidelined, Tampa Bay will continue to rely on Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as its top wide receivers, with Julio Jones and Scotty Miller next up for snaps and targets.

  • Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Not practicing Wednesday

Gage (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Gage reportedly practiced Monday in an unofficial session coming out of the Buccaneers Week 11 bye, but he'll now be listed as a non-participant on the team's first official injury report of Week 12. He hasn't played since injuring his hamstring Week 7, allowing Julio Jones and Scotty Miller to step into larger roles behind the lead wideout duo of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
