Bobo Wilson: Joins practice squad
Wilson signed with the Panthers' practice squad Wednesday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Wilson played six games with the Buccaneers this season, working as a depth wideout and return man, but fumbling woes led to his departure. The Panthers waived returner Greg Dortch for the same reason Tuesday, but Wilson may get a shot at a fresh start Sunday against the Seahawks if promoted to the active roster.

Bobo Wilson: Let go by Bucs
Wilson was cut by the Buccaneers on Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Wilson had a tough outing Sunday as he caught one of three targets for 10 yards and returned six punts for 12 yards while also fumbling twice (losing one). Per Stroud, coach Bruce Arians was concerned by Wilson's lack of production on punt returns (2.8-yard average), which led to his departure.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Fumbling issues mar performance
Wilson secured one of three targets for 10 yards and returned six punts for 12 yards in the Buccaneers' 37-26 loss to the Panthers on Sunday. He also committed two fumbles, losing one.
The FSU product had a forgettable day overall and was also outplayed by fellow receiver Scott Miller (three receptions, 39 yards) on offense. Wilson seems to have lost ground to Miller in the receiver pecking order while Breshad Perriman (hamstring) is sidelined, as Wilson only logged 23 snaps to Miller's 48 on Sunday.

Wilson logged third-receiver snaps with Breshad Perriman (hamstring) out of action, but he ultimately made minimal impact. Jameis Winston overwhelmingly focused on Chris Godwin when dropping back to pass Sunday, so Wilson's underwhelming showing was actually one of many in the Buccaneers' pass-catching corps. The Florida State product could reprise his Week 5 role in London during a Week 6 divisional matchup against the Panthers if Perriman remains sidelined.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Expanded role awaits
Coach Bruce Arians said Wilson and Scotty Miller would split the offensive snaps usually reserved for Breshad Perriman (hamstring) in Sunday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Perriman, who was already been ruled out for the Week 5 contest, has had a regular spot in three-receiver sets this season, but it hasn't meant much from a production standpoint with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans dominating the overall target share. Unless Godwin's hip injury limits him or keeps him sidelined versus New Orleans, neither Wilson nor Miller would be likely to see meaningful volume in the passing game. Of the two, Wilson seems better positioned to see more work, given that he played 35 snaps to Miller's eight after the injury knocked Perriman out early in the Week 4 win over the Rams.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Makes first catch of season
Wilson secured one of four targets for 14 yards in the Buccaneers' 55-40 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Wilson bumped up a notch to No. 4 receiver with Breshad Perriman exiting early in the game with a hamstring injury. The Florida State product corralled only a quarter of the passes thrown his way, but he at least recorded his first catch of the season. Wilson could see similar opportunity again in Week 5 against the Saints if Perriman is forced to sit out that contest.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Limited to return stats again
Wilson failed to bring in his only target and returned five punts for nine yards in the Buccaneers' 32-31 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Wilson at least logged six snaps from scrimmage Sunday after not having seen the field on offense in Week 2 against the Panthers. However, for the moment, it appears his opportunities to touch the ball will only come on returns, as the Buccaneers continue to go with an extremely tight receiver rotation that consists of just Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Breshad Perriman for all practical purposes.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: No snaps from scrimmage
Wilson was limited to 12 special teams snaps in Thursday's 20-14 win over the Panthers and returned three punts for 21 yards. He muffed one of those opportunities but recovered.
Through two games, Wilson hasn't been afforded the opportunity to prove he can carry over the improvement as a receiver he'd shown throughout OTAs, training camp and preseason. However, the shifty wideout did provide a nifty 11-yard return Thursday. He still appears to slot in behind Justin Watson on the receiver depth chart, however, as Watson actually logged two snaps from scrimmage. As long as the players in front of him enjoy good health, Wilson's role figures to remain what it is at present.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Limited to punt returns
Wilson returned one punt for no gain in the Buccaneers' 31-17 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He was not targeted in the passing game.
Wilson logged six snaps from scrimmage and added 13 on special teams, and he notably worked as the No. 4 receiver ahead of Justin Watson. While that didn't equate to any offensive stats in Week 1, the disjointed nature of Jameis Winston's performance could have had a part to play. Wilson's punt returner job will be his most consistent path to potential production from game to game for the time being, but based on the notable improvement he displayed as a receiver in training camp and preseason, he's likely to eventually get involved as a pass catcher as well.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Busy night in preseason finale
Wilson brought in one of two targets for 12 yards, returned two kickoffs for 32 yards and ran back two punts for 21 yards in the Buccaneers' 17-15 preseason win over the Cowboys on Thursday.
Wilson got another look at multiple positions to wrap up the preseason, giving him an opportunity to advance what is already a relatively strong case for a spot on the initial 53-man roster. The FSU product has made strides in all aspects of his game this summer, and he appears to have locked up either the No. 4 or No. 5 receiver role along with what could be at least one return job to open the season.

Wilson brought in all four of his targets for 28 yards, rushed once for two yards, and returned three punts for 23 yards in the Buccaneers' 13-12 preseason win over the Browns on Friday.
Wilson continued building his case for a roster spot with another solid exhibition showing, joining his primary competition for the No. 4 receiver job, Justin Watson, as the only other wide receiver to have a 100.0 percent catch rate on the night. Wilson's reception tally also co-led the Buccaneers, and he flashed his elusiveness with a nifty 14-yard punt return as well. Wilson appears to be on solid footing for a spot on the final 53-man roster, with next Thursday's preseason finale against the Cowboys affording him one more opportunity to specifically lock down the No. 4 wideout job to open the campaign.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Continues building case
Wilson secured two of seven targets for 48 yards and returned one kickoff for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 16-14 preseason win over the Dolphins on Friday.
The poor catch rate aside, Wilson still found a way to make an impact, primarily through a 30-yard grab. The FSU product has been able to successfully carry his push for a roster spot from the practice field to the first two exhibitions, and he'll look to further make his case against the Browns in next Friday's third preseason tilt.

Wilson has drawn solid reviews for his improvement as a receiver during training camp, so it was encouraging to see him demonstrate it during game action. Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Making impression early
Wilson appears to be improved as a receiver and is making a strong case for the No. 4 wideout job early in camp, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Vitali describes Wilson, who caught just four passes for 52 yards last season from Weeks 13-17 while logging 69 offensive snaps, as having taken a step forward as a wideout. Wilson racked up 284 yards on kickoff returns during that span as well, but he'll naturally have an even better chance of sticking on the roster if he can prove a viable option in the latter portion of the wide receiver depth chart. Wilson had a particularly productive day Sunday, with Greg Auman of The Athletic reporting Wilson made a nice catch on a deep in from a ball thrown by Jameis Winston and an acrobatic grab down the left sideline on a pass from backup QB Ryan Griffin.

After impressing Tampa Bay coaches during OTAs, Wilson will begin the team's mandatory minicamp on the sideline. The injury, however, is being viewed as minor, so Wilson shouldn't remain out for long.

Buccaneers' Bobo Wilson: Making waves in OTAs
Wilson is impressing as a receiver early in OTAs, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Wilson saw action in five games last season as a depth receiver and special teams contributor, posting four catches for 52 yards and adding 284 kick return yards. The speedy 24-year-old has been getting behind defenders over the first two weeks of on-field work and also earned praise from coach Bruce Arians during the first week of OTAs for improved route running. Wilson capped off the second week of sessions with an impressive touchdown reception in the back corner of the end zone Thursday. He'll look to continue carving out a path to a roster spot at a position that saw two notable offseason departures (DeSean Jackson and Adam Humprhries).
