Jones replaces DT Gerald Willis on the Dolphins' practice squad. A year removed from snagging 11 receptions for 80 yards as a member of the Lions, Jones has yet to dress in 2019. Because of his status as a practice squad player, any team can still add Jones to its 53-man roster.

Jones, who has spent the past two seasons in Detroit, was competing for a depth role on the roster before suffering an undisclosed injury. Lions' Andy Jones: Peppered with targets
Jones snagged six of 12 targets for 50 yards during Sunday's victory over Green Bay.
Jones and Brandon Powell were the apples of quarterback Matthew Stafford's eye on a day without top target Kenny Golladay (chest), as the two combined for 21 of Stafford's 32 pass attempts. While Jones was much less effective with his touches, he could have had a much bigger day had he been able to get in better position either of the two times he was targeted in the end zone. The inexperienced receiver also dropped a pair of seemingly catchable balls. Under contract with Detroit through the end of the 2019 season, Jones will now enter the offseason with aims of securing the No. 3 receiver role behind Golladay and Marvin Jones (knee) ahead of the new campaign.

Jones caught one of five targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 27-9 loss to Minnesota.
Jones produced little despite earning a career high in targets, though he did draw a flag on third down to help the Lions move the sticks at one point. With Bruce Ellington (hamstring) on injured reserve and Jones now a secondary target behind Kenny Golladay, the third-year wideout should again see a handful of targets when Detroit takes on Green Bay in next Sunday's season finale.

Lions' Andy Jones: Records first career touchdown
Jones recorded two receptions for nine yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 14-13 loss to the Bills.
With Bruce Ellington (hamstring) inactive, Jones served as the Lions' No. 2 receiver behind Kenny Golladay, easily out-snapping fellow depth receiver TJ Jones, 45 to 36. Along the way, the third-year wideout collected his first career touchdown while setting new career highs in receptions and yardage (however uninspiring those totals may be). If Ellington remains sidelined Week 16, Andy Jones could again see a heightened offensive role this Sunday against the Vikings.

Lions' Andy Jones: Draws two targets
Jones caught one of two targets for five yards during Sunday's 17-3 victory over the Cardinals.
Jones logged a career high in playing time with 37 offensive snaps thanks in large part to the hamstring injury that forced Bruce Ellington from the game. While Jones wasn't able to much with his increased role, no Lions receiver was particularly productive on a day quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for a career-low 101 passing yards. Depending on the severity of Ellington's situation, Jones could again be in store for heightened playing time in Week 15 against the Bills.
