Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Transitioning to offensive line
Gillmore (knee), who has played tight end since entering the NFL in 2014, is in the process of transitioning to the offensive line, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Gillmore, who has been limited to just 17 appearances over his past three seasons with the Ravens, was sidelined all of last season while recovering from surgery to address an MCL injury, which he sustained early in training camp. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds last season, the 26-year-old has reportedly added considerable bulk to help with the transition. In addition, Gillmore has spent his offseason training with former NFL lineman LeCharles Bentley to improve his blocking technique. Given his lack of prior experience at guard or tackle -- his most likely new positions -- Gillmore may have to settle for a short-term deal when he hits free agency this summer and could face an uphill battle to earn a 53-man roster spot for any team that he might join.

Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Clears waivers, placed on IR
Gilmore (knee) has cleared waivers and was placed on IR, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Gillmore wasn't expected to be a major contributor coming into this season anyhow, but after landing on IR, it appears his season may be over before it started. The Ravens will likely rely on the likes of Ben Watson and Maxx Williams at tight end this year.

Crockett Gillmore: Let go by Ravens
Gillmore (knee) was waived/injured by the Ravens on Friday.
Gillmore suffered a season-ending meniscus injury last Friday, which followed a 2016 campaign in which he played just seven games due to injury. In the wake of multiple offseason shoulder operations to boot, Gillmore has now been waived to clear a roster spot for the Ravens. A third-round pick in 2014, Gillmore was entering the final season of his contract with Baltimore.

Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Needs season-ending surgery
Gillmore (knee) had his MCL repaired and is expected to miss the entire 2017 season.
Already scheduled for meniscus surgery Monday, the 25-year-old Gillmore ended up needing a more serious procedure that likely will keep him out for the year. Coming off an injury-marred 2016 season in which he only played seven games and ultimately needed shoulder surgery, Gillmore previously was in line to compete with Ben Watson, Maxx Williams (knee) and Nick Boyle for the starting tight end job. Watson is an early favorite, but the competition seems to be wide-open.

Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Will undergo surgery Monday
Gilmore (knee) is expected to undergo surgery Monday to repair his meniscus and remains without a timetable for a return, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
The Ravens still haven't shed much light on how long Gilmore will be sidelined, but considering he'll be undergoing surgery, it seems unlikely he'll be ready to go by the start of the regular season. After losing both Dennis Pitta (hip) and Darren Waller (suspension) for the season, that leaves Baltimore a little thin at the position. The team opted to sign free agent Larry Donnell on Sunday to help make up for the lack of bodies, and he's slated to battle the likes of Ben Watson, Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle for reps. That said, Watson remains the favorite for the time being.

Gillmore is dealing with a potentially serious knee injury, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Baltimore entered the offseason with impressive depth at tight end, but the team lost Dennis Pitta (hip) and Darren Waller (suspension) before training camp, leaving Gillmore to compete with Ben Watson, Maxx Williams (knee) and Nick Boyle for snaps. Gillmore has struggled to stay healthy since serving as Baltimore's top tight end for much of the 2015 season, playing in only seven of the team's last 20 games. He may be in danger of a long-term absence, and at the very least, he'll fall behind in the position battle. Despite the fact that he's 36 and missed all of last season with a torn Achilles, Watson is the early favorite for the Week 1 starting gig.

Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Suffers leg injury Friday
Gillmore suffered a right leg injury in Friday's practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
This is a frustrating development for Gillmore, who entered camp with as good a shot as anyone to land the starting tight end gig for the Ravens in light of Dennis Pitta's hip injury and Darren Waller's year-long suspension. According to Zrebiec, Gillmore's injury "didn't look good." The Ravens figure to provide an update on the severity of Gillmore's injury in the coming days, at which point Baltimore's tight end situation should have some more clarity. If Gillmore misses extended time, Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle should get more reps alongside Ben Watson.

Ravens' Crockett Gillmore: Dealing with hamstring injury
Gillmore (shoulder/hamstring) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Gillmore spent the early part of the offseason recovering from multiple shoulder surgeries and then missed June minicamp due to a hamstring issue, according to Callie Caplan of The Baltimore Sun. He still saw his job prospects improve during that stretch, as Dennis Pita (hip) was injured and released and Darren Waller was suspended indefinitely. With 2015 second-round pick Maxx Williams (knee) still rehabbing from major surgery and 36-year-old Ben Watson returning from a torn Achilles' tendon, Gillmore and Nick Boyle both have a shot at the starting job in what eventually figures to be a three- or four-way competition. Gillmore previously held that role back in 2015 when he started all 10 games he played and caught 33 of 47 targets for 412 yards (8.8 per target) and four touchdowns. Injuries have since derailed his career, and it's quite possible he'll be a part of a timeshare even if he's technically the starter.
