Kareem Martin: Let go by Big Blue
The Giants released Martin on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Martin appeared in just five regular-season contests in 2019 due to a knee injury, notching six tackles (three solo). His release frees up $4.8 million in 2020 cap space for the Giants while leaving $1.2 million in dead money. The 28-year-old will now look to latch on elsewhere in the league ahead of training camp.

Giants' Kareem Martin: Back from injured reserve
Martin (knee) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Martin sustained the knee injury during the season opener but returned to practice in late November and now rejoins the 53-man roster for Week 14. The 27-year-old should serve in a depth role at outside linebacker.

The Giants have designated Martin (knee) to return from injured reserve, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Martin returned to practice Wednesday, kicking off a 21-day window wherein the Giants can evaluate him for activation to the 53-man roster. If he's indeed cleared to retake the field, Martin will stand to play a key role in New York's linebacker corps.

Martin made two tackles (one solo) before exiting the game. A mix of Markus Golden and Oshane Ximines will replace Martin at outside linebacker for the time being. Martin will look to make a quick recovery to be ready for Week 2's contest versus the Bills.

Giants' Kareem Martin: Signing with G-Men
Martin is expected to sign with the Giants, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.
After playing sparingly during his first three seasons in the league, Martin seemed to turn a corner in 2017, ultimately finishing the season with 24 tackles, one sack and three pass breakups over 16 games -- including 10 starts. The 2014 third-rounder has the looks of an up-and-coming outside linebacker who, at the very least, will provide the Giants' linebacking corps with much-needed depth.

Martin had 24 tackles (18 solo), one sack, one forced fumble and one interception in 16 games for the Cardinals in 2017.
Martin started 10 games this season, in large part due to starter Markus Golden suffering a torn ACL in Week 4. The 25-year-old set a career high in tackles and will enter 2018 as an unrestricted free agent.
