Swearinger is able to rejoin the Saints ahead of their NFC divisional-round matchup on Sunday against Tampa Bay after clearing the league's COVID-19 protocols. The 29-year-old's return provides depth for the Saints' secondary.

Saints' D.J. Swearinger: Back with Saints
Swearinger inked a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Saints on Sunday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Swearinger was a late signing Week 15 by the Saints, and the team elected to keep him around. In five games between the Raiders and Saints, the 28-year-old produced 22 tackles (15 solo) and two pass breakups. He'll provide depth at safety for the Saints heading into the 2020 campaign.

Saints' D.J. Swearinger: Lands in Big Easy
Swearinger signed a contract with the Saints on Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Swearinger was let go by the Raiders last week and will now join a playoff team down the stretch. The 28-year-old provides depth at safety with Vonn Bell (knee) and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (concussion) not healthy.

The Raiders waived Swearinger on Tuesday.
Swearinger was a starter with the Cardinals to begin the season before being cut Sept. 30. The 28-year-old found a new home in Oakland with Lamarcus Joyner dealing with a hamstring injury and Karl Joseph (foot) being placed on IR. However, Joyner is healthy, and the Raiders appear comfortable with the four safeties they have on board. Swearinger has posted 48 tackles over eight games this year.

Swearinger registered seven tackles during Sunday's 17-10 victory over Cincinnati.
In his first game since signing with the Raiders, Swearinger logged 38 defensive snaps while helping to replace the injured Karl Joseph (foot) and Lamarcus Joyner (hamstring). Swearinger's signing comes on the heels of news that Oakland's starting strong safety, Karl Joseph, may have suffered a significant injury in Thursday night's win over the Chargers. If that is indeed the case, Swearinger could be thrust into a crucial role immediately for the Raiders alongside fellow safeties Erik Harris and Lamarcus Joyner. Swearinger last played for the Cardinals earlier this season before being released in late September.

Cardinals' D.J. Swearinger: Lands with Arizona
Swearinger posted on his personal Instagram account Tuesday that he was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals.
The Redskins informed the veteran safety of his release from the team Monday, two days after he criticized defensive coordinator Greg Manusky's playcalling in the Week 16 loss to the Titans. Though many teams were believed to be interested in scooping up Swearinger off waivers, he'll ultimately land back in Arizona, where he played for portions of the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He'll likely check in as the No. 3 safety on the depth chart behind starters Antoine Bethea and Budda Baker.

Swearinger was released by the Redskins on Monday, Grant Paulsen of The Athletic reports.
Swearinger comes shortly after he criticized his coaches. Coach Jay Gruden talked about Swearinger's comments after Sunday's loss to the Titans, saying, "what he's doing is not helpful one bit," and, "it is a distraction," JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. Swearinger had been a starting safety for the Redskins and he'll likely have suitors this offseason.

Swearinger recorded three tackles (all solo), including a sack, and a forced fumble in Sunday's loss to Houston.
Swearinger hasn't recorded many tackles this year, but he's been a quality player for the Redskins. His performance Sunday gives him 37 tackles, including two sacks, nine passes defensed, four interceptions and three forced fumbles on the season. Looking ahead, Swearinger and the Redskins will take on the Cowboys in Week 12.

Swearinger recorded three tackles, all solo, two passes defensed and two interceptions across 61 defensive snaps in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
The Redskins held Andrew Luck to just 179 passing yards Sunday, in part due to a pair of timely interceptions by Swearinger. The first came off a Mason Foster batted ball with the Colts driving into Washington territory early in the second quarter. The second came in the third quarter and gave the Redskins back the ball on the Colts' 31-yard line, resulting in a Dustin Hopkins field goal.
