Titans defensive end Mike Martin is taking a unique approach to getting better. He is getting smaller by shedding weight in order to get faster and quicker, per The Tennessean.

Martin played at about 318 pounds in 2014. He says he's dropped to around 290 to 295 pounds this offseason.

"I'm feeling really great," Martin said. "I've got my weight back down to where I was in college. I'm feeling a lot better than I did and I'm moving better."

Martin, who's entering a contract season, says the drop in weight is already paying dividends as his conditioning has already improved.

"It's a big-time difference," Martin said. "The way I'm moving on the field, I'm real explosive and quick, and I'm not getting winded. I remember last year, after like five or six plays, I'd be winded. That was with an extra 20 pounds."
