The Steelers will promote quarterback Tyler Murphy from the practice squad Saturday, which is a further indication that starter Ben Roethlisberger will miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

The team still has not ruled Roethlisberger out of Sunday's game entirely but continues to brace for him being inactive. He could come to the team on Sunday and request to play and declare himself ready, but he's taken few reps this week and Landry Jones is still in line to start.

Murphy, a QB/WR out of Boston College, took the scout team reps this week and will provide the team with insurance with Mike Vick slated to back up Jones.

As reported all week, Roethlisberger has been aiming for Sunday to return and he is doing well, but the team has brought him along slowly and limited his activity in the team portion of practice. Roethlisberger would very likely play if this was a playoff game, and he remains very much on track to face the Bengals next week in what could be a crucial AFC North game.
