Washington managed to avoid falling to 0-3 on Sunday with a big win over the division rival New York Giants, but that win may have come at a cost. Several players left the field with injuries throughout the game, and one of them may have seen his season end prematurely.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday morning that the Redskins fear safety DeAngelo Hall tore his ACL. An MRI will be taken on Monday to confirm the diagnosis:

And if this report is accurate, those fears have been confrmed:

Hall collided with a teammate while trying to make a tackle late in the second quarter. He struggled to get up and was taken off the field.

After spending his first seven seasons in Washington as a cornerback, Hall had moved over to safety last season and began 2016 as the team's starting free safety, playing next to David Bruton.

Hall will turn 33 later this season and is on a deal that pays him just over $5 million next season. Washington can save a little over $4 million by cutting him before the 2017 season begins, but assuming he makes a full recovery, that seems somewhat unlikely given his stature in the organization.

In his likely absence, Will Blackmon and Duke Iheanacho will presumably see more snaps in the defensive backfield.
