Bishop very well could miss the entire season because of a hamstring injury. (US Presswire)

Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop badly injured himself in the team’s preseason-opening 21-13 loss to the Chargers on Thursday, and at first, Green Bay was worried he had torn his ACL.

The good news is that it sounds like Bishop actually didn’t hurt his knee. The other piece of news is conversely as terrible. That’s because, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette, Bishop might miss the 2012 season anyway with what could be a badly pulled or a torn hamstring.

Bishop was hurt in the first quarter of the game when a group of players fell on his right leg. Without Bishop in the lineup, 2011 sixth-round pick D.J. Smith likely would take over his inside linebacker position.
