Benson has a new lease on life.

Former Bengals running back Cedric Benson is about to have a new job.

That’s according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, who writes that Benson is in Green Bay and is expected to sign a new contract.

At the very least, Benson -- coming off three-straight 1,000 yard seasons who has been confused why he couldn’t get a job -- will provide experience with an offensive backfield that features James Starks as the running back and is backed up by a variety of young players without much experience.

"I have no idea,” Benson said last month when he was asked why he's still unsigned. “I'm at a loss for words."

Luckily for Benson, he shouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. Even though it’s unclear how much the pass-happy Packers will need to hand off the ball to Benson, he’s almost assuredly pleased just to be on the verge of having a job again.
