Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has, perhaps, 25,000 reasons why he’s glad the regular officials have returned.
But he didn’t want to list any of them, only to say:
“I’m looking forward to the guys we were used to, that’s for sure,” said Shanahan, fined $25,000 after Sunday’s loss to Cincinnati for a profanity-filled tirade at one official after they incorrectly told the Redskins the game had ended because of a run-off situation.
Shanahan was far from alone in expressing happiness at the return of the regular officials.
“I’m gonna bear hug them and tell them I love them,” Redskins end Stephen Bowen said of the regular officials.
“They weren’t up to par on a lot of rules and having people understand the flow of the game and how it’s played,” Redskins linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said. “This allows us to play at the highest level.”
While defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was happy they were back, he said it only means this: “A new group to yell at,” he said.
