Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Retiring after playoffs
Alexander announced Monday that he intends to retire from the NFL, Leo Roth and Ryan Miller of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle report.
Alexander will continue to start in Buffalo's linebacker corps during the team's playoff run, but he won't return for the 2020 season. The veteran linebacker recorded 55 tackles (35 solo), two sacks and nine defended passes across 16 regular-season contests in 2019, and he'll now turn his attention to Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Texans.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Season-low snap percentage
Alexander posted just one tackle during Sunday's win over the Dolphins while playing a season-low 35 percent of the defensive snaps.
The veteran wasn't hurt, but the Bills worked (effectively) with a nickel defense for much of the afternoon and that's the package where Alexander usually sits. Meanwhile, fellow linebackers Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds were all over the field. Alexander has 39 tackles, 2.0 sacks and eight passes defensed in 2019, but the aforementioned two players are on the field more and tend to pick up more stats, even though Alexander is the best pass rusher of the three.

Alexander notched 10 tackles (five solo) and one defended pass during Sunday's win over the Dolphins.
Alexander posted his highest tackle count of the season in Week 7. The veteran linebacker continues to perform at a high level and is a solid IDP option in deeper IDP formats.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Notches sack in win
Alexander made six tackles (five solo) and a sack in Sunday's 14-7 win over the Bills.
The 36-year-old linebacker sacked Marcus Mariota on third down in the second quarter, forcing the Bills to punt from their own three-yard line. Alexander still has plenty left in the tank with 21 tackles and two sacks through the first five games.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Solid in limited action
Alexander posted four tackles (two solo), 0.5 sacks and a pass breakup in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Jets.
Alexander played in 26 of 72 defensive snaps (36 percent), which is quite unusual for the veteran linebacker, but he made good use of his time. It's unclear if this role will be consistent for Alexander in future weeks, but if it is it will be tough for the 36-year-old to match the 74 tackles and 6.5 sacks he recorded last year.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: One more go-round with Buffalo
The Bills re-signed Alexander to a one-year contract Wednesday, John Murphy of the team's official site reports.
Alexander will turn 36 in May, but his play hasn't tapered off a bit. He posted 68 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2018 and the Bills could really use his veteran leadership with defensive tackle Kyle Williams already announcing his retirement. Alexander had some big IDP performances down the stretch after Matt Milano suffered a broken leg, though the veteran will likely take on a more restricted play count when the linebacking corps is at full strength. The Bills have preferred to use Alexander in a hybrid role that creates opportunities for him to rush the passer.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Old man racking up IDP points
Alexander posted a season-high 15 tackles and an interception in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
Alexander is 35 years old but playing like a man 10 years younger, even taking on a higher play count following the season-ending injury to Matt Milano. He was on the field for a whopping 73 plays Sunday, and we'd expect another robust workload next week when he finishes out the season against Miami. The way the veteran has played (68 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery), the Bills might be begging him to come back in a hybrid role in 2019, one where he'll continue to be a leader for what's been a strong defense this season.

Bills' Lorenzo Alexander: Posts another sack Sunday
Alexander recorded one tackle -- a sack -- in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.
Alexander has now recorded a sack in back-to-back weeks. On the season he's tallied 46 tackles, including 6.5 sacks. Looking ahead, Alexander and the Bills play the Jets in Week 14.

Alexander recorded eight tackles (seven solo), including a sack, and two passes defensed in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
Alexander hasn't slowed down much in his age-35 season. His seven passes defensed this year are a career high and he's still a consistent tackler and pass rusher. He has 45 tackles and 5.5 sacks through 11 games this season. He'll look to continue his quality play into Week 13, when the Bills play the Dolphins.

Alexander (rest) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday after being given the day off Wednesday, the Bills' official site reports.
The 35-year-old is likely to return to a full practice Friday, as the Bills are just trying to rest up the hard-working veteran (one that posted two sacks and six tackles in Monday's loss to the Patriots) during a short week.

Alexander recorded six tackles (five solo), two sacks and one forced fumble during Sunday's 25-6 loss to the Patriots.
Alexander was all over the field Sunday, making his presence known as one of the consistent bright spots on Buffalo's defense. The 35-year-old played 58 defensive snaps after not exceeding 40 since Week 1, and will look to log another strong showing in Week 9 against the Bears.
