Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has missed valuable practice time due to issues with COVID-19, and now his backup will miss a "few weeks." On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh informed reporters that Trace McSorley "wrenched" his back this past weekend picking up a box at home. McSorley attempted to play through the issue on Saturday, but after getting it looked at again, they found an issue beyond back spasms.

In a corresponding move, the Ravens also announced that they had re-signed quarterback Kenji Bahar, a rookie who played his college ball at Monmouth University. McSorley started in Baltimore's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints this past weekend, and played the entire first half. He completed 11 of 18 passes for 86 yards and one interception, and also rushed four times for 25 yards. Tyler Huntley took over at quarterback in the second half, and led the Ravens to a comeback victory, their 18th consecutive preseason win

Harbaugh said Huntley took a big step in the direction of becoming the backup quarterback with his performance on Saturday. Against the Saints, he completed 12 of 16 passes for 79 yards and led the team in rushing with seven carries for 43 yards and a touchdown. While he did lose a fumble, Huntley led Baltimore on a 12-play, 79-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter which ultimately won the game. Undrafted out of Utah in 2020, Huntley got his first non-preseason NFL action against the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs last year when Jackson suffered a concussion. In the 17-3 loss, he completed 6 of 13 passes for 60 yards.
