Arthur Jones' family has one date in particular circled on their calendar: Sept. 23, when New England travels to play the Baltimore Ravens.

It's not because the Patriots defeated the Ravens 23-20 for the AFC Championship a year ago. It's because Jones' little brother Chandler, a rookie DE with the Patriots, will start what looks to be an on-field family feud for seasons to come. Call it the Jones Bowl.

"It's going to be a great day for the Jones family," Arthur said. "I told my mom to go ahead and put that purple jersey on that she's been doing, and get ready for us to dominate them."

Jones said he and his brother have already gone back and forth, trash talking each other for the  showdown in Week 3. Both Joneses know this game will hold bragging rights for at least a year, although that could change if New England and Baltimore meet again in the postseason.

"He knows what's up," the elder Jones said. "He's just a rookie, so he better hold his tongue."

There's no denying the Jones family is layered with athleticism. In addition to both football players, middle brother, Jon "Bones" Jones, is a mixed martial arts champion in UFC. Jon Jones defeated Rashad Evans in a unanimous decision in April, and will fight Dan Henderson on Sept. 1.

September figures to be a busy month for the Jones family.

Arthur has waited his turn to see more time in Baltimore's defensive line rotation. Minutes came sparingly over the past two seasons with Cory Redding starting at DE. With Redding in Indianapolis, Jones has positioned himself to play a lot of minutes in 2012.

"Whatever my role's going to be I'm going to be dominant on this defense," Jones said. "I'm excited to get more playing time this year."

Jones is playing DE and the 3-technique position. He and Pernell McPhee figure to rotate in and out, depending on what the situation calls for. Jones is big (6-3, 315) and will be used to stop the run in the grind-it-out AFC North.

Although some see Jones and McPhee competing for a starting spot, Jones said they may share the position. As the preseason has indicated, there will be a lot of bodies running in and out along the line.

"It's not really a competition, it's me and him both getting better," Jones said. "We're going to tag-team this."

A hip flexor injury slowed Jones early during training camp, but he's since battled through it to get back on the field. He was able to participate in Baltimore's second preseason game against Detroit and had two tackles.

The Jones family has a lot going on when it comes to the three athletic siblings. Arthur's just one of them trying to stand out among the rest.

"I'm just grinding every day, trying to get better," he said.
