After signing OG Derek Dennis, who was cut after the first day of training camp with the Dolphins, earlier in the day, the Patriots acquired OT Dustin Waldron after he was waived by Miami.
To make room for Waldron, the Patriots played C/G Jamey Richard (concussion) on injured reserve.
The Patriots will also get C/G Nick McDonald back soon. He passed his physical and has come off the PUP list.
Waldron (6-5, 305 pounds) was viewed as the better prospect during the draft process. Dennis (6-3, 315) can only play guard.
"It will be a couple days before we can actually get him out there," coach Bill Belichick said of Dennis.
"We’ll try to catch him up with some information and material. When he’s able to practice, we’ll start practicing him.
"We can give him an opportunity. We’ll see how he does."
