Tyler Sash returns after Week 4, but who will be released when the saftey comes back after serving his suspension for violating the league's policy on PEDs. (US Presswire)

Giants safety Tyler Sash’s suspension for violating the league’s policy on PEDs will be over after the Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, which means one of the 53 players on the roster is in danger of losing his job.

When Giants broke camp, the obvious choice seemed to be safety Stevie Brown, who took over Sash’s role backing up starters Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips on defense in addition to filling Sash’s jobs on special teams.

But now that Brown has become acclimated on both defense and special teams, he’s making it harder and harder to cut him. Brown had five tackles over his first two games and added an interception against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.

“Well you saw him make the nice pick a couple of weeks ago,” coach Tom Coughlin said of Brown. “He’s done a good job on special teams. He’s very speedy. He’s a guy we’ve used in different spots, played him as a gunner.”

Brown, who Coughlin described as “strong guy that can run fast,” participated in 17 special teams plays against he Panthers and six plays on defense. Considering Brown didn’t appear on defense at all in Week 1, the trend is moving in his favor.

“I try not to look at that,” Brown said. “I just try and give it my all every single game I’m out there. I understand this league. I understand it’s a business and everything like that. If I have to go, I have to go, but if I can stay, I’ll make the most of my time I’m here.”

Other candidates to be released when Sash returns are defensive end Adewale Ojomo and safety Will Hill, both of whom have practice squad eligibility. Hill, however, can serve as the nickelback in the sub package, and with the team’s usual nickelback, Jayron Hosley, battling a hamstring issue, Hill might be needed.

Ojomo, meanwhile, has dealt with a hamstring issue since making the 53-man roster out of camp.

Guard Mitch Petrus, who has already been released by the Giants once this season, is another candidate to be released.
