A post-fumble skirmish that took place in the Redskins’ 17-16 win over the Giants on Monday resulted in a $7,875 fine for New York DT Linval Joseph and a $10,000 fine for Washington C Will Montgomery, CBSSports.com was told by a league source.

Joseph and Montgomery each attempted to kick each other while the Redskins and Giants fought over Alfred Morris’ fumble.

After the game, Joseph claimed he was trying to pull Montgomery off the pile when he was kicked by the Redskins lineman and retaliated. However, Joseph says -- and the video confirmed -- that he pulled back at the last moment to avoid actually kicking Montgomery.

Montgomery was attempting to wrestle the ball away in the pile.

After the play, the teams were awarded offsetting penalties, but it was actually Redskins OG Kory Lichtensteiger that was flagged as opposed to Montgomery. Joseph drew the flag for New York.
