The news went from bad to worse for the Giants on Wednesday.
It was already known that safety Kenny Phillips (right MCL sprain) and center David Baas (hand) suffered injuries in Sunday’s 19-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but several other surprises appeared on the injury report as well.
WR Ramses Barden (concussion), DT Rocky Bernard (quadriceps), LB Michael Boley (hip) and RG Chris Snee (hip) were also added to New York's injury report, which already included RT David Diehl (knee), CB Michael Coe (hamstring), CB Jayron Hosley (hamstring), WR Hakeem Nicks (foot/knee), LB Keith Rivers (hamstring), S Antrel Rolle (knee) and CB Corey Webster (broken right hand).
Coach Tom Coughlin said that Barden must have suffered the concussion on the Giants’ final drive on Sunday. Barden was complaining of a headache on Tuesday, so the team decided to begin the concussion protocol. Coughlin said that most of the tests were fine but there was “enough there to slow him down.”
Barden is not practicing Wednesday and neither is Snee, Bernard, Boley, Nicks or Rivers. Hosley and Diehl will do some individual work.
Coughlin said that Nicks’ knee is still slightly swollen.
Barden caught more passes over the last two weeks (11) than he did all of last season (2), primarily because of the injury to Nicks, which has sidelined him for the last two weeks.
