The Giants might be a healthier football team when facing the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 than they were when they lost to them in Week 1.

New York’s injury report was limited to just six players on Wednesday, as opposed to the 10 names listed on Sept. 2.

Center David Baas (ankle) is a new addition, but the remainder -- DT Rocky Bernard (quad), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), WR Hakeem Nicks (knee/foot), S Kenny Phillips (knee) and LB Jacquian Williams (knee) -- are all repeats.

Baas sat out of Wednesday’s practice. Coach Tom Coughlin said left guard Kevin Boothe can slide over to center, which would allow veteran David Diehl play left guard and move back into the starting lineup. Diehl began the season at right tackle, but sprained his right MCL in Week 2 and had been inactive until the past two weeks. However, the former Pro Bowler has been relegated to blocking tight end duties since returning. Diehl has experience at guard and tackle.

Coughlin also said backup center Jim Cordle could see some action as well.

Nicks practiced every day last week, and that’s apparently the plan this week as he was active on Monday. In fact, Baas and Williams were the only players who were inactive. Bernard and Phillips stretched and worked sparingly during the media portion of practice. Phillips was doing individual movement drills outside while Bernard was participating in individual drills.

Bradshaw stretched as well, but didn’t appear to be doing too much beyond that. Coughlin said he hopes Bradshaw will practice Thursday.

Chris Canty ready for more: In his first game since coming off PUP, Canty played between 20 and 30 snaps on defense and apparently his surgically repaired knee didn’t limit him.

“Let’s face it, it’s the first time, he had no previous scrimmage-type work at all and did well and took care of himself,” Coughlin said of Canty, who had four tackles against the Redskins.

Coughlin said Canty can expect more snaps this week against the Dallas Cowboys, Canty’s former team.

Travis Beckum, come on down: Like Canty, Beckum also had offseason knee surgery and now he’s ready to come off PUP. Beckum is practicing Wednesday, which means his 21-day window is now open. The Giants will have three weeks to decide if they want to put him back on the 53-man roster.

Keep in mind, rookie tight end Adrien Robinson is currently on the roster and isn’t getting any playing time. He’s a fourth-round pick, so the Giants obviously think somewhat highly of him, but he could be released if New York wants to get more out of his roster spot.
