Giants Injury Report: Hakeem Nicks 'doubtful' with swollen knee, foot

Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks missed last Thursday’s game because the short turnaround -- New York had played four days earlier -- didn’t allow for his surgically repaired foot to fully recuperate from his four-catch, 199-yard performance in Week 2.

But even though the Giants had an extended practice week leading up to Sunday night’s Week 4 matchup with the Eagles in Philadelphia, Nicks was listed as “doubtful” because he has a new injury: a swollen knee.

Nicks didn’t speak to the media on Friday, but it’s his left knee that is swollen. We do not know if the swelling occurred as the result of him compensating for his surgically repaired right foot.

Wide receiver Victor Cruz didn’t exactly give Giants fans a shot of confidence when he said he’s “disappointed” that Nicks “won’t be out there,” but that’s not the final word on the subject. Philadelphia is just a short ride down I-95, so Nicks might as well make the trip and see how he’s feeling Sunday afternoon before anything is decided.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), wide receiver Domenik Hixon (concussion), cornerback Corey Webster (hand) and defensive end Adewale Ojomo (hamstring) are all listed as “probable” for Sunday. Cornerback Michael Coe (hamstring) and safety Antrel Rolle (knee laceration/bruise) are both questionable, although Coe said he’s “hopeful” that he can play and coach Tom Coughlin said Rolle is “making progress.”

Linebacker Keith Rivers (hamstring), cornerback Jayron Hosley (hamstring) and right tackle David Diehl (knee) are all out for Sunday. Diehl said he’s making progress and hopes to play next week.

Safety Will Hill, who played some nickelback in Week 4, might be there full-time on Sunday because Hosley will be out.

If Nicks misses his second consecutive game, both Hixon and Ramses Barden would likely have to step up. That’s not necessarily bad news, though, as Barden had a nine-catch, 138-yard performance against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.
