The Giants reached the NFL roster limit of 75 on Monday by waiving 11 players, putting two others on the PUP/reserve list, moving rookie guard Brandon Mosley (ankle) to IR and terminating the contract of cornerback Antwaun Molden.

Defensive tackle Chris Canty (knee) and Travis Beckum (knee) were already on PUP, and now they’ve been placed on the PUP/reserve list which means they cannot play until after the sixth regular-season game. Beginning on Oct. 16, both Beckum and Canty can begin a 21-day practice period before officially being activated, terminated or simply remaining on PUP.

Mosley’s move to IR is interesting because his ankle injury didn’t appear to be serious. The team’s second fourth-round pick in 2012 was in a walking boot last week, but has since returned to practice on a limited basis. He’s seen as a project who has the potential to play guard or tackle, but it was unlikely he could contribute this season.

The Giants will cut down to 53 players by 9 p.m. on Friday.

Notable cuts: The Giants were very high on tight end Christian Hopkins when he was on the practice squad this season, which is why it's peculiar that he didn't make the first cut. The team might have been doing him a favor to allow him more time to sign with another team. The Giants seem set at tight end with Martellus Bennett, Bear Pascoe and rookie Adrien Robinson.

The Giants also two players with local ties: Rutgers alums cornerback Brandon Bing and fullback Joe Martinek.
