Giants' fans might get to see more of reigning NFC Special Teams Player of the Week RB/KR David Wilson on offense this Sunday. Unfortunately, the opportunity comes as at the expense of starting RB Ahmad Bradshaw's health.

Bradshaw has a sprained left knee, coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday. He wouldn’t elaborate on the injury, but Coughlin did say that Bradshaw’s history of playing through pain makes it hard to rule him out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons.

“I’m not going to speculate because of the toughness of this young man on how long it would be,” Coughlin said. “He's very positive about it. He definitely wants to get back as fast as he can.”

Bradshaw sprained the knee Sunday during the victory against the Saints, but actually returned to make some key carries after convincing Coughlin and the medical staff he was fine.

“The other day, for example, when he did injure the knee, he got it taped and went back in,” Coughlin said. “He had three straight, what amounted to three short runs in a row to make a key first down on the fringe of the green (20-yard line).

“No one really knew what was going on there. He told me he had no limitations and so on and so forth. He's a tough son of a gun.”

Bradshaw finished with 33 yards on 11 carries.

If the Giants go without Bradshaw on Sunday, they'll be left with Wilson, Kregg Lumpkin and Ryan Torain at running back. Lumpkin has appeared in only two games for the Giants while Torain has yet to be active since being signed two weeks ago.

In addition to his 227 kick return yards, Wilson also had yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in Sunday’s win over the Saints. Coughlin said Wilson’s presence “certainly helps” but added “We have to have the two other young men ready to go as well.”

Neither Bradshaw, S Kenny Phillips (knee) or CB Prince Amukamara (hamstring) will practice Wednesday.

Coughlin described Amukamara’s hamstring as “tricky,” but did not elaborate beyond that.
