Colts Austin Collie ruled out Sunday night, evaluated for concussion symptoms

Austin Collie was ruled out of Sunday's game against the Steelers and the Colts wide receiver is being evaluated for concussion-related symptoms.

If there's one guy you don't want to hear knocked out of a game with possible concussion symptoms, it's Austin Collie. But that's exactly what happened on Sunday night, as the Colts wide receiver took a forearm to the head after catching a pass and won't return.

Collie didn't actually catch the pass -- it was reviewed incomplete after a challenge from Steelers coach Mike Tomlin -- but he did catch a forearm to the head from Pittsburgh linebacker Larry Foote.

That's not a good thing for a player who's struggled with concussions ever since a terrifying incident in November of 2010 when Collie had to be carted off against the Eagles.

There were questions before last year whether or not Collie would ultimately need to retire, as it took a second scary incident in 2010 (this time against the Jaguars) for the wideout to actually be placed on injured reserve.

Collie was less effective in 2011, starting just five games and catching just one touchdown, and 54 passes for 514 yards.

To see Collie dealing with additional issues this early in the year certainly doesn't bode well, and it makes you wonder how long he can keep playing football and if the Colts can justify -- for his own health -- keeping him on the roster.
