Daniels was a beast on the defensive end despite the loss, racking up a career-high six steals to go with one block. Unfortunately, he shot just 3-for-14 from the field, somewhat negating his defensive masterclass. Nonetheless, he remains a must-roster player across most formats, at least until CJ McCollum (chest) returns from his injury.

The 2022 first-round pick has failed to meet expectations of being the eighth overall pick during his tenure with the Pelicans, partly due to a lack of playing time. He has an opportunity to impress during CJ McCollum's (chest) absence, but Daniels hasn't excelled during his time in the starting lineup. The Aussie is averaging 9.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals through nine starts. The multi-category input is somewhat encouraging and has provided a streaming opportunity, but his fantasy outlook is mediocre at best, especially once McCollum returns. Jordan Hawkins has provided more of an offensive punch in McCollum's place and might retain a bigger rotation spot than Daniels when McCollum returns.

Daniels continues to start at point guard for the Pelicans, putting together the best stretch of his young career. Over the past two weeks, he has averaged 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.1 three-pointers, good enough for top-75 value in standard leagues. As long as he is running with the opening unit, Daniels needs to be rostered in all leagues.

Daniels had a somewhat limited workload during his rookie season last year, averaging 3.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 17.7 minutes per game. However, he had some encouraging performances during Summer League play this year, and it's possible he carves out a larger role during his second professional season. Following Thursday's move, he'll be under contract with the Pelicans through the 2024-25 season.
