Taj Gibson: Deal with New York expires
Gibson became an unrestricted free agent Tuesday after his second 10-day contract with the Knicks expired, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
If the Knicks are interested in retaining Gibson coming out of the All-Star break, he would need to be signed to a rest-of-season contract now that his pair of 10-day deals have lapsed. Though head coach Tom Thibodeau has a long-term working relationship with Gibson and values the 38-year-old as a locker-room presence, the Knicks may not have much of a need for Gibson if starting center Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) is ready to play Thursday in Philadelphia.... Knicks' Taj Gibson: Signs second 10-day contract
The Knicks signed Gibson to a second 10-day contract Friday, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Gibson rejoined the Knicks at the end of January but has had an inconsistent role over the past few days. He wasn't part of the rotation for three matchups but has seen double-digit minutes in the last two games, averaging 2.5 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game. While he'll remain with the club on another 10-day deal, his role will likely continue to fluctuate.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Taj Gibson: Back to New York on 10-day deal
The Knicks signed Gibson to a 10-day contract Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Gibson signed with the Knicks in December following injuries to Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Jericho Sims, but he was let go before his contract became fully guaranteed. Sims has since returned to full strength, while Robinson remains out. The Knicks are also going to be without Julius Randle (shoulder) for at least the next couple of weeks, so Gibson should provide frontcourt depth once again. In 10 appearances this season, Gibson has averaged 1.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 9.7 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Taj Gibson: Waived by New York
Gibson was waived by the Knicks on Sunday, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Gibson's contract was set to become fully guaranteed Sunday, so cutting him represents a cost-savings move as well as a roster-flexibility move for New York. The 38-year-old averaged 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.7 minutes across 10 appearances for the Knicks this season.... See More ... See Less

Gibson signed a one-year contract with the Knicks on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Gibson spent the 2022-23 campaign with the Wizards, but before that, he had a three-year stint in New York, where he averaged 5.3 points and 4.8 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game over 159 appearances. While he played a career-low 9.8 minutes per game in Washington, Gibson has plenty of experience playing under coach Tom Thibodeau and will provide frontcourt depth for the Knicks, who will be without Mitchell Robinson (ankle) for several weeks. Dylan Windler was waived by New York to make room on the roster.... See More ... See Less

The backup center averaged 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game, marking the first time in his 14-year career he ended a season with less than 10 minutes per game. The 38-year-old may be able to carve out a bigger role behind Daniel Gafford with Kristaps Porzingis no longer in the picture, but Gibson likely still won't be fantasy relevant during the 2023-24 season....
