Schwellenbach (1-2) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks across six innings against the Tigers. He struck out seven. Schwellenbach logged a second straight quality start and set a career high in strikeouts en route to his first big-league win. The lone run against Schwellenbach came in the sixth inning, when Riley Greene hit a leadoff triple and scored on a Gio Urshela single later in the inning. While Schwellenbach owns a 4.98 ERA through four starts with Atlanta, his ERA is inflated by a six-run shelling at the hands of the the Red Sox on June 5. He's lined up to face the Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday.... See More ... See Less

Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Quality start in rookie duel
Schwellenbach came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out three. Matched up against fellow rookie hurler Cade Povich, Schwellenbach produced his first quality start in three trips to the mound for Atlanta, but the 24-year-old right-hander was on the hook for a loss until Matt Olson went deep in the top of the eighth inning. Schwellenbach may have earned himself a longer stay in the majors with Wednesday's performance, but he'll take a 6.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB through 15.2 big-league innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Tigers.... Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Set to start Wednesday
Schwellenbach is listed as Atlanta's starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Orioles in Baltimore. He will be matched up against former college teammate Cade Povich in a battle between two of the top pitching prospects in both organizations. Schwellenbach hasn't looked sharp in his first two major-league outings, allowing a total of nine runs over 9.2 innings in losses to the Nationals and Red Sox. The young righty's future still looks bright, but he'll be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes Wednesday in a tough matchup.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Makes pro debut at Single-A
Schwellenbach (elbow) covered 1.2 no-hit scoreless innings for Single-A Augusta in his season debut Thursday, striking out one while working around two walks. Schwellenbach threw 26 of his 42 pitches for strikes in the appearance, the first of his professional career after he was selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft. He didn't pitch in either of the 2021 and 2022 seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery shortly after being drafted, but he reported to spring training at full health and received the green light to bypass the rookie-ball level entirely.... Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Throwing again
Schwellenbach (elbow) announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he's been cleared to play catch off flat ground. Schwellenbach's light catch session Monday at extended spring training marked his first time throwing since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August. Due to the timing of his procedure along with the fact that Atlanta plans to develop him as a starter, the 2021 second-round pick may not be cleared to make his professional debut until the final month of this season or potentially 2023....
