Mets' Tzu-Wei Lin: Lands with Mets organization
Lin signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on March 16.
Lin didn't play from late May onward last season after picking up an injury while playing for the Twins' Triple-A affiliate at St. Paul, but his signing with the Mets implies that he's healthy again heading into the 2022 campaign. The 28-year-old utility man, who saw big-league action with the Red Sox in four straight years from 2017 through 2020, is expected to begin the upcoming season with Triple-A Syracuse.

Twins' Tzu-Wei Lin: Lands on 60-day IL
Lin (undisclosed) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Lin had been on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A St. Paul since May 30 for an unspecified reason. It's not yet clear when the 27-year-old will be cleared to return to game action. He's appeared in seven minor-league games this year and has hit .269 with a double, eight runs, four RBI and three stolen bases.

Lin was a non-roster invitee to camp and slashed .333/.500/.533 with three doubles, one RBI and two stolen bases in 15 spring at-bats. He'll now join the team's minor-league camp ahead of the regular season and should begin the year at Triple-A St. Paul.

Lin signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Saturday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Lin spent the entire 2020 season on Boston's major-league roster, but he only logged 57 plate appearances over 26 games. He was unable to generate much production, slashing .154/.182/.173 with three RBI and 17 strikeouts. While it's unclear whether his deal with Minnesota includes an invitation to major-league spring training, it wouldn't be surprising to see him serve as a non-roster invitee.

Lin received 57 plate appearances for the struggling Red Sox this season and did very little with them, hitting .154/.182/.173. That dragged his career slash line down to .223/.298/.316. He's unlikely to play a major role for the Red Sox next season.

Lin started in center field and went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 13-6 loss to the Phillies.
Jackie Bradley was scratched due to a sore right wrist, so Lin was deployed in center field for the first time in 2020. The utility infielder has played just eight career games in center, but the Red Sox didn't have many options as Andrew Benintendi (ribs) is on the injured list. Boston manager Ron Roenicke told Ian Browne of MLB.com that Bradley is feeling better, and the manager is hopeful he can return Wednesday against Philadelphia right-hander Jake Arrieta.

Red Sox's Tzu-Wei Lin: Starts at second base
Lin started at second base and went 1-for-4 in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.
Lin filled in for Jose Peraza, who was given the day off after starting the first eight games. This was Lin's second start of the season; he filled in for an injured Xander Bogaerts at shortstop last Wednesday. He'll continue in a utility infielder role going forward but may not survive when rosters are trimmed. The Red Sox, who are 3-6 and missing their top two starters for the season, may decide to use the abbreviated campaign to take a deeper look at their roster. That could lead the organization to look toward the future and carry Rule 5 pick and utility infielder Jonathan Arauz instead of Lin.

Lin played first base in Sunday's intrasquad game, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
Lin handled himself well at first, making a couple of nice picks. The versatile Lin has lined up at second base, shortstop, third base and center field in his three seasons with the Red Sox, so they are confident in his ability to add a new position. He could be used as Brock Holt's replacement this season in the versatility role.

Lin (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting eighth in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game versus the Rays.
The 26-year-old was shut down last week after exiting a game with left hamstring tightness, but his relatively quick return to game action indicates the injury was a minor concern. Lin seems likely to begin the 2020 season in the minors, but he figures to fill a utility role if and when he's called up.

Lin (hamstring) is expected to be shut down from baseball activities for the next two or three days, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
The Red Sox don't believe the left hamstring tightness that forced Lin out of Tuesday's game against the Yankees is a major concern, but he'll require some maintenance time before resuming workouts. Even though he injury doesn't look like it'll jeopardize Lin's availability for Opening Day, he still probably finds himself on the outside looking in for one of the Red Sox's reserve infield jobs.
